For 14 years, Jake has been a frightened dog. Not anymore. For the first time ever, he came into the kitchen looking for a snack while I was cooking! Since I rescued him at 2 years old, he avoided tight spaces, would be afraid if I reached down to pet him, panicked if the furniture was moved, freaked out at strange noises and all such scary things. Now in his old age, perhaps he has forgotten his fears and can finally rest his weary bones. I love this big brown boy and am making the most of the time he has left with us. This was such a huge deal with us, I had to celebrate with you dog-loving Imgurians.
This is Jake snuggling with his girlfriend, Zoe, whom we lost 2 years ago. Something scared him at the time so Zoe gave him his anchor.
His latest squeeze is Tina who is about 12 and doesn’t allow him to lay on her. But he depends on her and searches for her if she wanders off. We really don’t deserve dogs.

Couldn't agree more. I feel like I can feel Jake's emotions through the pictures

Well done for looking after him so well. I’m sure he’s reciprocated with lots of cuddles. Pleased he’s lost his fear.
