TL/DR; OP has janky hips that cause a spinal issue. Surgery prep at 0500 to stop nerve damage and possible paralysis.

See this lil turd?! Thats my L5/S1 disc, and it is finally getting fixed in a few hours. I can't sleep, so I figured I would post! The day after Xmas 2017, I woke up with a weird buttcheek pain. I thought I pulled a muscle, so I just rehabbed what I thought was the issue (piriformis) and began getting better until I took a flight out of state.

Fast forward to the flight, in Feb. Got on the plane with no pain, and could not walk off the plane two hours later. Had to use the BF as a human crutch, and had no idea what had happened. BF has pretty much done a hell of a job keeping me alive, because this issue has given me full body spasms, migraines, and pain so bad that I've randomly blacked out and just fallen over. That's the short list. Mind-searing pain is putting it mildly.

Ended up finding out that my disc most likely ruptured mid flight due to the compression in the cabin, and that the herniated portion slipped down into my foraminal gap. The herniation is sitting on my nerves, and has caused me to develop pre-cauda equina syndrome. Thankfully I can still walk, but right now, I can't feel my feet 90% of the time, and I trip a lot. My calves regularly go numb, and today was the earliest I could get in with the surgeon. I have a few hours until we go to the hospital, I'm a tad anxious, and cannot sleep.

Picture of OP. Surgeon strongly suggested that I trade in my matchbox car and get an adult vehicle. I was super bummed, and I am not allowed to ride in small cars, or drive stick for a long time. Since my vehicle was both, I had to give her the ole yeller treatment. This is our last photo.

Cat tax! Wonton being my furry pest, as usual. She's been amazing at making me smile while I've been stuck in the house the last few months.
If I get cool operation photos, or video, I'll post an update in a few days.
Adorable animals would be appreciated. I'll check in when I wake up. Thanks, Imgur, you weirdos know how to keep a girl smiling.

Sorry. I had a fusion at L1S1 , rods and screws, it was a life saver. I felt like I was not going to be able to get out of bed some days.

Rhabbing from way milder spinal disc hernia that took me to hospital for a few days, can't even imagine your level of pain. Best of luck! <3

I am so sorry! How is your rhab going? Thankfully they have had me on some pretty strong drugs while awaiting surgery. Thanks!

.... Holy crap, that x-ray is SCARY looking. Even if you have to deal with discomfort, getting that fixed now is a Godsend.

In the waiting room now, I'm ready to get this done and start healing.

Oh man. I just found out I have a little bulge on a lower disk and it hurts like hell and it's nothing compared to yours.

Get help as soon as you can! I was stubborn for 2 months and hated life, I almost paralysed myself from the waist down. Good luck!

Laminectomy & discectomy on my L5/S1 disc, they think its my best option with the complications. I hope you're feeling better & thank you!
