Back in the day I watched a lot of Naruto, maybe until 100 episodes into shippuuden or more. I can confidently say that there wasn't a single arc where I didn't find Sakura annoying af. They did her dirty.

She could have been cool. She almost was! She started off as the poster child for “shonen women” but her initial character arc was literally “hey, maybe don’t coast off of natural intelligence and belittle hard work, and instead start fighting tooth and nail to be better or you’ll have to depend on others when it matters most”. Then, instead of WINNING that fight, proving that she had changed in the forest, she tied with her and proceeded to not be remotely relevant for the rest of the series until Shippuden. She was ROBBED! Both in universe (Kakashi didn’t do shit for her) but more importantly by Kishimoto

Search for something called "the Ocean Cut" of Naruto. Dude cut all the filler and 90% of repeated crap. It's the only way I got through it all, and now I wholeheartedly think it's a fucking masterpiece of storytelling.

Sakura was the punchiest of punching bags for as many seasons as I watched the show.

Never really changed, sadly. Just when she was beginning to catch up, both Naruto and Sasuke, as well as the overall baddies, went up at least an order of magnitude in power, for SOME reason. I didn't make it more than 3 episodes into Boruto, but I don't think it ever really changed much.

One episode I remember she was in a headlock getting punched and the whole thing was flashbacks interspersed with her getting punched some more and the grand resolution was she somehow got out of the headlock. That was it. My friend at the time who got me into Naruto called it the Donkey Punch episode.
