This little thing ran over to me & my dog on our walk @ 7:30 last night. I pick it up & it was shivering, I held it close to warm it. Took my dog home went game showed it to the GF , went back found baby squirrel mom calls on YouTube set it next to the tree where it crawled from. Let the home owners know what I was doing she brought out a bowl warm water w/ a lid & a towel & we placed it near my phone. No sign of mom. It got dark so I brought it back home & started calling reques in the area being late most didn't pick up, talked to a nice lady in St. Helen, that said if I was up to it try to get it some pedialyte. While I was buying pedialyte 1 of the rescues texted me that Huron Vally humane Society would take it. I called their late emergency number & they said bring it by in the morning.

Well she,(I think) got to the Humane Society. They said she looked healthy, I let them know I got her to drink some warm pedialyte @ 4 am & that she hadn't used the bathroom, even though I tried to stimulate her pee response. Her eyes were open so I don't think she needed it she was probably dehydrated. I called them today, & they said she was handed off to the rehab specialist, & was probably sleeping in a pile of similar aged squirrels.

Sure sounds like you did literally everything right here! Let us know if the rescue gives you any updates on this lil baby. You saved his life for sure!

Had a situation like this in my backyard. I thought the baby was older but long story short he wasn’t. Provided shelter, warmth, water outside for 3 days. It was COVID. Finally got a rescue in another state on the phone to advise me. They said I was doing the right things. If the baby ran up to me then it means mom wasn’t coming back & he’s hungry. Next day that happened. Scooped him up & took him to a rehab place. I didn’t think he was going to live that first night but he did!

Sounds like you've probably passed it off already, but just in case you or someone else needs this info: baby squirrels can drink goat milk ONCE THE SQUIRREL IS WARM. Do NOT feed them when they're cold, and do NOT give them any kind of formula.
