Nutella Unspread
If only we saw all our "food" broken down like this.
There are numerous healthier versions of Hazelnut spreads available in alternative stores, health food stores, co-ops, and online or even straight from hazelnut farmers (including at farmers markets). Many are dairy-free for the vegans or those like me who cannot have dairy. There is even one with no hazelnuts for those with nut allergies.
Or, just eat peanut butter. Even those that have added sugar do not have nearly as much as Nutella has. If you really must you can also stir in some cocoa powder, or even just some chocolate to the peanut butter if it's the theobromine hit you are after
Or even just eat a candy bar which might actually be better and more satisfying for you than the Nutella

Words cannot express how fucking disappointed I am if someone thinks that nutella is healthy. Also peanut butter is gross.

Try the Novi spreadable cream.
fireflyseasontwo
Definitely better: Hazelnuts 45%, sugar, 9% lean cocoa, 5% skimmed milk powder, cocoa butter, emulsifiers: soy lecithin, natural vanilla berry extract

Got any good examples commonly available? Nutella is kind of uncommon. It's not always available, let alone other options. (in the US)

I found this site: https://utopia.org/guide/7-healthy-nutella-alternatives-that-are-organic-and-vegan/ but google can probably find you some more

Also, never heard of theobromine before, is that why I love chocolate and occasionally "need" it?
DefinitelyNotMadeOfBees
No. Theobromine is naturally present in cacao beans and is a metabolite of caffeine. It isn't addictive, as far as anyone knows. Your body easily digests it.
Arcygenical
Theobromine would be nigh indistinguishable to your body from caffeine, so no, it's likely because chocolate is life and very "moreish"
fireflyseasontwo
Theobromine is what makes chocolate dangerous for dogs but in Greek, "Theo" means "God" while "Broma" means "Food" so "Theobroma" (the genus name for the cacao tree) = "Food of the Gods": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine

I'll take that as a yes. :)

Palm oil harvesting can be pretty bad for the environment and wild life. Anyone know if it uses sustainable palm oil?
cdlong
Found it, they do. https://www.nutella.com/int/en/inside-nutella/sustainability/palm-oil
TheoFromSteam
I'd question if that's accurate. Both the source is heavily bias and the RSPO have been caught letting companies who get the certification not actually being audited and not meeting their own standards.

Yikes. Thanks for the info.

The food industry is shockingly bad and misleading when you dig in to it. A great example is the FDA: Any food manufacturer can self-certify an additive as safe and opt to ignore the FDA approval process when putting the food on the market.

"Or just eat peanut butter." Bro you don't need to tell me twice. I eat 1kg every 2 weeks according to my recurring costco shipment... Directly from the jar with a fork. I think that means I've eaten over 12.5kg and nearly 80000 kcal of peanut butter this year.
TheoFromSteam
Make sure it's proper peanut butter and not the same shit cut with palm oil. Many food manufacturers increase profit by cutting their food with oils, which make it nutritionally worse for us and cheaper for them to produce.
Cyclicus
Better be chunky.
Arcygenical
This guy gets it.
SophieClockwise
I think it's very likely he's pretty damn chunky by this point.
