Happily N'Ever After

So a little back story.

A while ago, (within the last year or so) my best friend says she is having trouble with her boyfriend. They are on completely different life paths (what they want). She wants kids + marriage and he does not. So ultimately they separated and I was content for her, He was really nice but I believe she is a stunning and a full of life person and could do much much better.

The next month she tells me they are getting back together. He suddenly sees things her way and turns a new leaf. Don't get me wrong, I do believe people can change but humans are a creature of habit and it seemed very abrupt. Only a very very small percentage of people can truly adjust (change) and even at this point I am still extremely doubtful.

Fast Forward to present time. She calls me to tell me the good news (I knew what she was going to tell me before she said it) He proposed to her right after receiving some good news (a new job) several thousand miles away and in a very brief period of time they have to pack up and leave.

There was a small lump forming in my throat but I didn't say anything to her.

I'm happy that she is happy but I'm not happy for her. I am scared and sad for her and have heard and seen first hand how men (and women) think either a marriage or kids or both can save the relationship but only to further drag it out and come to the same conclusion.

It's not about how I feel but I can't shake this uneasy feeling and this is not how it's suppose to go.

Even if he wasn’t forced it’s likely to end in divorce anyways from a statistical perspective

You need to invite your friend over for wine and have a heart to heart about this. Better she hate you for being right.

Sounds like you're scared that she's choosing her Fiance over you. She is

You need to tell her what you see. You dont need to convince her, just tell her. You’ll hate yourself later if the marriage dies.

It's worth saying something/showing her this post, but the decision to start a family is complex. He might've realized it is what he wants.

You can't live other people's lives for them. They're allowed to make their own mistakes. Let it go...
