What did I just see?!

Dec 4, 2021 2:05 AM

Hey Imgurians! I just saw this trail of lights fly overhead. About 30-40 lights in a row streaking due East over the horizon (5:45pm over central California) I thought it might have been space debris but it did not burn up. It was not a meteor! Any thoughts?

Getting smaller over the horizon

I took the photo with my phone which came out streaky. It was one chain of lights unevenly spaced out as you see in this photo. Reminded me of the shuttle disaster of an object breaking apart but in a line not spread out.

Meteors. They happen fairly often if you're watching.

Good job on the pics! Space junk, I think.

Probably debris from the Russian anti-satelite weaponry. Orbits are getting a bit more crowded.

Not going to lie, it kinda freaked me out the first time I saw them. I had no clue what they were at the time.
