Simple graphic I made to explicitly and clearly (hopefully) show what it means for a weapon to be "bullpup". Since I made the graphic I figured I might as well share it.
The graphic compares the Steyr AUG & M16A2 assault rifles. Both have extremely similar traits in terms of their cartridge, typical magazine, barrel length, weight, effective range, and design time (AUG being barely a decade after the first M16 model). This image shows how the AUG achieves about 3/4 the overall weapon length while still having the same 20 inch barrel as the M16.
Bullpup configurations can be applied to virtually any firearm including Assault rifles (above AUG, or SA80 family), Sub-machine guns (FN P90), shotguns (Kel-Tec KSG), sniper rifles (Barrett M95), and even LMG's (QBB-95).
NOTE: the images used are NOT perfectly to scale (I tried to get them as close as I could manually)

Is there a difference in how they sound to the person operating them?
commoncomment
Is there alot more trigger slop with a bullpup?
Alomega
That is a matter of ergonomics and is influenced by the overall design of the weapon. Being bullpup has no direct effect on handle shape.

They tend to have worse triggers since you have to have a long link back to the hammer. That being said, I’ve got a Tavor. It’s a bullpup

and one of my favorite rifles.

"Assault Rifle" is a made up term. I'm for gun control btw but we could label a lot of things as an "assault _" so why don't we just call/1
Alomega
Fact. Every term is a made up term.

Them semi or fully automatic rifles?/2

Because there is more to a guns killing capability than the firing mode. https://www.ammoland.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_0516.jpg
ZacharyDiscordFletcher
what determines killing capability in the scope of this definition? (honest curiosity)
Woffenhorst
Muzzle velocity, caliber, does it have an underbarrel grenade launcher, etc.

Assault Rifles?

Yes, the M16A2 is an Assault Rifle... even though it only had burst.
whoopsywoo
The selectfire versions, yes
Alomega
Of course, I didn't list another example because the above AUG is an assault rifle. Another common bullpup assault rifle is the L85.

I'm a fan of the Sturmgewehr 44. But just short bursts. Gets expensive to feed them.

StG44. Colloquially called the grandfather of modern assault rifles. Many big early rifle designs including AK-47 and M16 are based off it.
