Bought (and renovated) my first house

So the first thing we had to do was enclose part of the porch to put the locking door at the bottom of the steps because idk about you, but I don't like the idea of someone waiting for me at the top of the stairs.

Stairwell before, there was no insulation at all in that exterior wall. Just framing and paneling.

All insulated and drywalled.

Standing at the top of the old stairs you had a landing with your locking door. Perfect for 2am murders!

Looking into the kitchen area. Featuring all 5'8" of horror that is my father and the world's most ineffective pendant light.

Same space the next day, says my father AND THE FUCKING BATHROOM. When dad hears 'demo day' he really takes that to heart.

Kitchen now. Mostly new drywall, new plumbing and cabinetry, appliances, flooring, and new electric.

So the bank wouldn't close till we put in counters and the bar countertop was going to take a month to get in. Dad decided 'fuck it' and did a tile bar with an oak surround.

The old bathroom. Featuring a flooring made of flat linoleum, this five by five cube offered none of the amenities you would like to have in a bathroom like venting or the ability to take a shit without falling into the shower.

We reframed the room, extending into the kitchen space a tad. New drywall, plumbing, vinyl tiles, and there's a fan so fuck off mold.

The old living room. Floor to ceiling on three walls is an aqua Lisa Frank would be envious of, and the fourth wall boasts paneling. So very 1976. So chic. And look at that carpet.

LOOK AT THAT SHIT. Without sunlight bleaching it out you can see fifty years of feet juice and other bodily fluids piled up here.

New paint, and we re-did the floors. One of those stains? Piss. This is why I hate carpet.

The bedroom before, with the previous tenants stuff still here. Not pictured: the rage I felt hauling this shit out to the garage.

Much nicer now that it's not painted whore red from floor to ceiling.

Dad used this bedroom as his workroom. I didn't stop him because did you see how he beat down that bathroom?

Bedroom now. With the wall opened up I'm using it as the living room. The floors here turned out really nice. And they were just under that nasty carpet!

Here's how the opening looked after the beam was put in. We had to raise the landing up to floor height as well.

We found a shoe in the floor that I left there. I don't know how it got there but I am not disturbing ghosts to do it.

Look at all this fucking baseboard I had to paint!

FUCKING LOOK AT IT.

The closet in the old bedroom/new living room was converted into a laundry space because if I have to go outside and downstairs to do my laundry I'm not washing clothes.

Cat tax. Sparty here has a chest lump so keep your fingers crossed that 2016 doesn't come for my cat.
