I was once intrigued by Ayn Rand but grew to find her to be self-infatuated and brutally preachy. There seemed to be something good in the concept of everyone striving to be the best they can be but her thinking leads to a form of social Darwinism that abhors civility and lacks any sense of community and compassion.
