Running Scared (2006 - Action/Crime/Drama)

A low-ranking thug is entrusted by his crime boss to dispose of a gun that killed corrupt cops, but things get out of control when the gun ends up in wrong hands.

My rating: 9/10 This in my personal opinion, is Paul Walker's (may he rest in peace) best movie. I'll admit, I wasn't a fan of Paul's work before (I know, I know...) but this movie made me one.

AVAILABILITY: Canada, Chile, Sweden ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

Source Code (2011 - Sci-Fi/Thriller)

An action thriller centered on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.

My rating: 8/10 I was skeptical about this movie being any good. In the end a very interesting plot and Jake Gyllenhaal's performance won me over.

AVAILABILITY: Chile, Sweden ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

From Paris With Love (2010 - Action/Crime/Thriller)

A young employee in the office of the US Ambassador teams up with an American spy looking to stop a terrorist attack in the city.

My rating: 9/10 Very action-packed and just an overall non-stop ride.

AVAILABILITY: Canada, Chile ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

Stardust (2007 - Adventure/Family/Fantasy)

To win his true love's heart, wide-eyed Tristan Thorn journeys to a forbidden realm to retrieve a fallen star that has taken human form.

My rating: 8/10 I admit when I first saw this I thought it would be horribly cheesy. I was proven wrong and this is a really great fantasy film with some humorous moments.

AVAILABILITY: UK, Sweden, Chile ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

The Man From Nowhere (2010 - Action/Thriller)

Tae-Sik is a widower with a mysterious past. When a young girl he befriends is kidnapped by a vicious drug gang, Tae-Sik rushes to save her.

My rating: 8.5/10 A bit slow to get started, but a very good movie overall with a touching storyline and very realistic action scenes.

AVAILABILITY: USA, Canada, Chile ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

Basic (2003 - Action/Crime/Drama)

A DEA agent investigates the disappearance of a legendary Army ranger drill sergeant and several of his cadets during a training exercise gone severely awry.

My rating: 8/10 I found this to be an interesting movie that keeps you guessing due to the different points of view of a crime and it ends with a nice twist.

AVAILABILITY: Sweden ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

The Cabin in the Woods (2012 - Horror/Mystery/Thriller)

Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for.

My rating: 7.5/10 It took me a lot longer than I'd like to admit to watch this movie since after reading the synopsis I didn't feel it would be that good. I was mistaken, a breath of fresh air for horror fans.

AVAILABILITY: USA, UK ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

Equilibrium (2002 - Action/Drama/Sci-Fi)

In a Fascist future where all forms of feeling are illegal, a man in charge of enforcing the law rises to overthrow the system.

My rating: 7.5/10 Overall this movie is pretty solid, I like the overall plot but you can tell it's a lower budget movie. It definitely holds its own though.

AVAILABILITY: USA, UK, Canada, Sweden, Chile ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

Identity (2003 - Mystery/Thriller)

Stranded at a desolate Nevada motel during a nasty rainstorm, ten strangers become acquainted with each other when they realize that they're being killed off one by one.

My rating: 8/10 One of those movies that have a twist ending that you either love or hate. I loved it because I found it terrifying.

AVAILABILITY: UK ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

The Mist (2007 - Horror/Sci-Fi/Mystery)

A freak storm unleashes a species of bloodthirsty creatures on a small town, where a small band of citizens hole up in a supermarket and fight for their lives.

My rating: 7.5/10 Twist ending is...twisted.

AVAILABILITY: Canada, UK, Chile ( http://imgur.com/gallery/iTWb7 )

Let The Right One In ( 2008 - Drama/Horror)

Oskar, an overlooked and bullied boy, finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl.

My rating: 9/10 If you've ever seen the movie Let Me In, this is the original film adaptation from Sweden and does the book greater justice than the American version imo.

I normally ignore these but running scared is one of the best movies out there

Stardust has Robert DeNiro in a corset and tutu. If that's not enough of a reason to watch it, I don't know what is.

12 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 2

Stardust is one of my very favorite movies. Everyone needs to see Robert DeNiro prancing around in a tutu with a heart doodled on his mole.

12 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

:/ DeNiro almost managed to single-handedly ruin that movie. Which is tricky, because the rest of it is quite decent.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

i just finished the book and i liked the movie ending better tbh and i think it is more than 8/10 :)

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

His crew and their love of him and his feelings always made me happy

12 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I never knew why I loved that movie so much, I just did. It is far from what I usually enjoy

+1 for Running Scared!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I skipped this, than realized that that was Running Scared and came back. One of my favorites. Also, identity is entertaining.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm sad more people don't like Running Scared. It's also one of my favorites. Saw it once on TV and it's stayed with me since.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stardust. Is. The Bomb.

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

+1 for Let The Right One In, as a kid I was vebally bullied a LOT, so it's refreshing whenever a good revenge movie comes out.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Stardust is also on Amazon Instant Video (free for Prime) in the US, in case someone here wants to watch it. :)

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Running Scared is easily Paul Walker's best film IMO. I love it. Also, BUNRUKU. WATCH BUNRUKU.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you've seen Let the Right One In... THE POOL SCENE!

12 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 0

I hadn't read the book, so slowly realizing what was going on made me love the movie, but damn did I end up feeling sad.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The book is even better.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Need a GIF of the cat scene for imgur

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This movie was so damn full of feels and was so touching. The way she help her old "friend" pass was wrenching.

12 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Yyyyeah, you should maybe read the book.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Until just now, I actually forgot it was a book...shame on me. Winter break is coming, will do

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Kudos! It's enticing :)

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Also the vagina scene creeped me the fuck out for a long time, must have been the weird hair, was like branches or something, anxiety

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If I recall, it's (spoilers) a scar. Eli is a eunuch.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ahh, weird. I had to try to get it out of my mind.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought that was the scar?

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It's a reference from the book that has to do with Eli's past. It would definitely be confusing if you didn't read it haha.

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Running scared is heavy. Some scenes stayed with me for awhile.

12 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

That shadow still creeps me out.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the couple that had the playroom really bothered my soul.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah. They were really messed up. One of the first movies I ever saw with people that messed up. Especially a couple.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah, i think i had my first baby shortly before that so it was particularly disturbing for me.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I could see that making it worse. I just watched the scene. I now regret it. Especially since Juliette from lost is one of them.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hockey rink

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is also not on netflix. The Running Scared on netflix is a buddy cop movie with Billy Crystal.

You lost me at 7.5 for Cabin in the Woods. Sold 8.5-9 range even if you aren't a Horror fan.

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

More like 3-4 for anyone. Too fucking cheesy.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Agree. Love horror and love satire. Really didn't like this movie. Scream and You're Next are the best horror satires out

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Running scared was the movie that had me fall in love with Paul Walker, so great

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Have seen a few of those. Stardust is awesome, Source Code is very interesting, and Equillibrium reminded me of Fahrenheit 451.

12 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

That feeling when you've seen 10/11 of these movies when they came out...

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

I did as well but these lists make them seem overrated.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I refuse to believe that Equilibrium is a movie people may have missed

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

never heard of it till now

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I still want a Grammaton Cleric trench.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It may be low budge as OP says (I have no fucking idea) but that movie is so metal.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Saw the first movie: "Running Scared" immediately scrolled to upvote This is an awesome movie and I concur with OP that it's Walker's best

That child's look is still hauting me!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hell yes! One of my favorite movies of all time.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

John Cusack rocks!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm still trying to get my money and time back from the 90 minutes of my life I wasted on From Paris with Love. Seriously people. It's shite

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Thank you. And I don't know of this 'shite,' but I personally think this movie is shit.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Struggle to believe someone enjoyed. Still there's no accounting for taste eh

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean the promo poster should be evidence enough:

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Eh, I enjoyed it. But then I've been a Travolta fan since Welcome back Cotter.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Def agree.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I still have nightmares about the mist, not because of the monsters but because of the ending

12 years ago | Likes 315 Dislikes 2

The ending to this movie has horrified me to this day and I saw it five damn years ago!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Marcia Hardens character was the true monster.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And thus another Bad Luck Brian was born from that ending.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked how that one woman who left the store to get her kids even when no one would help her survived.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I think every mother would...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that ending!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

However hipster it may sound, I preferred the book quite a lot. Definitely found it scarier.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Most of Kings books are... horrible-good written. Movies are just too small for our imagination we get from the books.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Horrible-good? Interesting phrase if I do say. And yes, I know this applies for most books, but the film was actually quite crap IMO.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought the ending was hilarious. Is that bad?

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

That scene where the chick gets bit by the mosquito like thing and her face inflates and she screams in horror really fucks me up.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Twas bullshit indeed

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

NNOOOOOooooooooOooooOOoOo

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually laughed a bit. He couldnt wait five frikkin minutes?

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 8

I had the same opinion... but then I thought they'd've waited a few hours before making such a huge decision... it would be too long to show

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's what makes it so tragic =(

12 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

That's what I love about that movie- the monsters are minor, the part that stays with you is the human element.

12 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I loved everything about it. The huge ass monsters at the end were awesome! Except the spiders. Could have done without that part.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The Mist first gave me nightmares over 20 years ago. It still shakes me now and then. The book ending is less twisted, but MORE terrible.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I personally much preferred the book because it leaves the ending open to your own imagination. It also feels much more dark to me.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I think King was actually a big fan of the film ending, glad it didn't just copy the book. Two versions to enjoy :).

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I watched the mist when it first came out and had nightmares about it. Totally blocked it from my mind until now. I regret watching it:(

12 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Saw it with my little brother. "Well, that was the most depressing thing I've ever seen."

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the most depressing endings of all time.

Good book

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw the ending and thought "and shortly after she died of cancer."

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stephen King actually thought the movie's ending was better than the one he originally wrote.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did a big no

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MRW I saw the ending:

12 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

What was the ending? Please, I saw a little bit of it and don't really remember, please tell, please, woozle, baby, please.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thanks, found out on my own eventually but your effort is appreciated!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For anyone else: Apocalypse > only five people remain w/ gun > suicide cult shit > one guy left > out of bullets > help finally arrives

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

the main character kills several people in a vehicle and I think has no bullet for himself...seconds later troops arrive to rescue them. :[

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The book has a totally different ending. Short story by Stephen King.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bruh you're a year late

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh God that ending!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

His awful cries of anguish will haunt me forever.

12 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

That made me believe in him as an actor.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did he kill his son?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, his son went on a trip to Belize.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, it was all just a dream, like Inception.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No, he just put him to deep sleep.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No, he sent him to a farm where he can run free and be happy.

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

The book didn't end like that. :( Book's ending was more open, they were in the car and everything, but they didn't kill themselves.

12 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 11

spoooiilleerrr

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

True, but Stephen King said he loved the movie's ending so much that he wished he wrote the story like that. Stephen King's messed up.

12 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I was really just disappointed not to see the huge monsters that were mentioned in the end of the book. (so tall you could only see legs)

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I mean, they had this thing, not as tall as in the book but still pretty big. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7Syolg4zG4

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True, been a while since I've seen it, so I forgot about that.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It looks like a big Eldrazi from MtG.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Upvoting for Man From Nowhere. It's one of my all-time favorites.

12 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

As an American, I found the role of guns very interesting. It wasn't about big guns, the presence of ANY gun was remarkable and rare.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And I appologize for my comma splice; I just noticed that.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed. I watched it on a whim. Didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Awesome movie.

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Was totally not expecting that, excellent movie.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Care to elaborate?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Terrible acting, really basic story line, tacky as fuck, just generally a pathetic movie. Certainly not underrated, that's for sure.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

The Mist is a Steven King short story made movie. I liked both the story and the movie which is a rare phenomenon unless its Stephen King.

I believe King said he liked the movie ending better than the one he wrote

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

A surprising amount of actors from The Mist are or have been in Walking Dead.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I completely agree. I love the story, and I still have The Mist on my DVR. I've read the story a half a dozen times.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This. They also filmed two endings for the movie.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I hated the movie so much, mostly for the ending. It pissed me off so much.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

It literally gave my mother nightmares for a month.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's exactly what its supposed to do. Its supposed to make you feel terrible at the senselessness of it, the pointlessness of their deaths

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sure, I'll give you that. But it made me hate EVERYONE in that car. I feel as though that made it difficult to enjoy.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Also, please downvote me for the amount of times I said "so much"

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Why? Personally, it just shocked and impressed me that they went there. And Tom Jane acted the intense pain of it all masterfully.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

yea he really made that scene so so intense and haunting.
