I think as his Dad, the snitch, is reportedly a pastor he probably already knew full well about religion, seeing it being weaponised by the current regime, he probably believed God had his back... Weaponising religion or hiding behind it as a shield, lashing out when you feel youre in the right, this will continue to be the outcome. Some of the worst people I know, go to church every Sunday.
