Came home to my poor girl looking like this. We figured out that she freaked out over the neighborhood fireworks, think she literally wet the bed and then tried to hide it by rubbing her nose over the quilt until she took the skin off. Tonight she's got some good meds and we'll keep her on them until Wednesday.

Make sure you give lots of treats and scritches while the poor baby heals!

Awwww man :( I hope the next week isn’t too stressful for her :/

I have to hold my shivering dog close against me during fireworks as she gets so scared. Also ex military... I hate this holiday tradition.

Poor girl needs much hugs and scritches right now!

Back when drugs weren’t locked up as tight as they are now. Me: Doc can you do me a favour, I need a script for 3 days worth of Valium 2.5mg. Doc: what do you need it for? Me: the dog needs it for the next 3 nights of fireworks. Otherwise she’ll just be standing over me drooling every night. Even after I left home I made sure she got her meds. Those 3 nights were hell for her.

it's best to introduce puppies to loud noises early on to prevent this sort of thing

You are correct, but we got her at age 4, she's now 9. Never had a problem with storms or fireworks until this year.
