Carl was a talker. I miss having a chatty cat around. Dally filled Carl's position, but in the 9 months since adoption, he may have uttered a sound 6 times. Enjoy this one.
I have one that gently places his paw on my nose when I don’t wake up when he wants. He also will just flop/roll on his back right onto my face when that doesn’t work.
Our kitten is 15 now. She doesn't wake us like this anymore, but she does demand bed times. Every night around the same time she starts giving hints that it is time for us to be in bed. This eventually turns into whiney meows and gentle prodding towards the bed.
My 17 year old cat does both. He wakes me up by jumping in my bed, and smacking me in the face. And then at night time he tells me when it's bed time and insists that I come to bed with him

You have to feed it. That was my cat's alarm clock. They're reminded you it was time to eat.

An automatic feeder helps us with this. They only bother me when it is empty.

It's more like a smoke alarm -- making noise when it is running out of energy. :)

OK. You have one that runs on batteries? Then it probably have a ON/OFF button too.

My cat is eight and occasionally he still chooses violence. If my nighttime snuggling is not up to his standards he will bite my arm.

I snuggle mine and he quiets down for a while, other than purrs. He'll even fall back to sleep after being cuddled.

Do most people just drop stuff on their floor and leave it?

Don't you dare. That is the cutest damned alarm clock ever. You thank him for his service!

I am awakened every morning at 5am by gentle, but insistent paw taps on my face.

Typically found in the rectum. If you don't feel them right away keep going deeper, sometimes they get stuck.

Wish they were rechargeable. Or last as long as ours.
