Yes, the place we found it in looked like the vault of an ancient bank.
No, we didn't find anything else, it was just one amphora, it was a very poor bank, I'm sure.

It's in a single cut (blue). The original floor level is likely around that lip (green), another amphora above this one would not have fit in the cur, so if your suggesting they stole an amphora, it would have been one buried beneath this one. Once this one was found they would have contacted their supervisor and the demolition crew would have probably stopped to come and watch. They would have to excavate this one, find another and remove it without being seen.
