Who cares?

What if... instead of countless conspiracies that require dozens, if not hundreds of participants (willing or not), we live in a world that is actually just as it appears? Both terrible and amazing. Where you have situation where you are under control as well as situations where you are perfectly free. Why do so many people feel the innate need for a conspiracy? Why can't the awful things that happen in this world just be because... well, because? Why do we need the government... the illuminati... lizard men.. whatever... why can't we just accept that statistically there will be a handful of assholes at he top of any system that involves humans? And why can't people grasp that the super rich don't need to mess with your vaccinations, your education, your lives in any way, because they can already influence the government and banks...? That's not a conspiracy... that's the reality of business

I think some people put so much time and effort into these theories because it puts some 'being' other than the individual back in control of the world around them. Is this any different from religion in general? Not really. It seems most people are unwilling to accept that the average human is, well, average. I.e. equally as bad as they are good. That's what average is. When the government covers up some bullshit it isn't part of some grand plan... it's because someone fucked up or they didn't read the polls accurately. Just like you would cover your ass when your folks caught you doing something wrong.

You know what? These guys are probably as rich as people say. But a lot of the things I read about them are just opinion pieces and people repeating the same shit they heard which that person repeated etc. etc. How is that different from the basis of a new religion? Exaggeration becomes a story becomes a legend becomes 'reality'? And if you question 'believers' they have similar responses... "you don't see what's in front of you'... "go do some research"... essentially "you know nothing because you don't believe what i do"... What if there is no secret organisation that somehow controls every detail of your world? What if there is no god watching over you at all times? What if you truly have free will? Even worse, what if the 7 billion people around you have free will? It's pretty scary if nobody is in control... Is that why we have these fantasies? Do we so desperately yearn for someone else to be in charge?

Now don't get me wrong, there are many things that are utter bullshit with regard to the 'official story' of many events throughout history. That doesn't automatically mean the government was actively involved. It just means that a handful of people embarrassed the fuck out of some important people and those people did what they could to cover their asses. I've done it, you've done it, they're just better at it. But when things go bad for the top dogs or there's problems with their stories it isn't just their mum or their boss who finds out, it's the world. And when that many people jump on an idea things get out of hand fast (you ever played Chinese whispers?).

This shit is just dumb. If your answer to a problem is infinitely more complex than what is considered mainstream knowledge, you are almost certainly wrong. That doesn't mean mainstream knowledge is never wrong or never changes but seriously... we are like a handful of years away from being able to jump in a space plane and see this shit for ourselves... plus literally every bit of evidence for flat earth can be debunked in moments, just like most creationist garbage... yet the arguments are very similar, you just have to ignore the vast majority of people who actually work in the field and just listen to people who make their money off youtube videos...

I dunno, maybe I'm wrong about everything... But isn't it exceedingly more likely that you are?
