based on 30+ years of adult living in a heavily conservative christian part of the country, I've only ever met a handful.

Given the rise of "prosperity gospel" megachurches, I'm not sure that would tell you anything.

Not American, so I can't say for sure. In Canada we vote "Conservative" mostly because it's lesser of 2 evils, fiscally and socially.
Well Canadian politics are shifted about 2 places left of American ones, so its possible none of this applies to Canada.
