Started out by making a simple chair out of 2x4s and plywood. Then added EVA foam with contact cement and a heat gun.
Once the foam was added I cut strips out vinyl backer sheets and hardboard and cut sword points on the tips and glued them to the chair.
On to added some texture.
This is what I used to add texture to the chair. My thought was to create a metallic texture. This was pricey but is sandable and flexible.
Used a putty knife to create the texture effect that I would later sand to smooth.
Used some black matboard strips to make the small protruding swords. I just cut a slit on the foam and placed the the sword tips in.
I tried to use some silicone caulk to create a molten effect. Wasn't really happy with it but I kept it. I would not use it again.
Plastic swords and scabbards I purchased from a party store are next to be added and textured.
I used contact cement to glued the swords and a heat gun to help shape then into the chair.
More swords and texture goop.
Time to sand.
After some sanding I spray with gray primer.
Now I spray the charge with metallic spray paint that has a hammered metal effect.
I also use paint to create a rust effect.
More rust.
Back side with paint and rust.
Back side again.
Close-up to show the rust.
