I obsessed over this issue until it was shreds. The game wasn't out yet but it looked so different to SMB3 and I was dying to know what the feather did, where the moon power-up was, and who the Dinos were.
In Japanese, the forest was always "Mayou no Mori", same as the "Lost Woods" from the Legend of Zelda. So in this case the text is more accurate to the original Japanese than the "Forest of Illusion" we ended up with.
