It's disappointing because before this, I kinda liked the guy. Not into his music at all, but personally he seemed down to earth and like he had a good sense of humor. I expected better from a seemingly reasonable person.

They own enough venues that if he refused they could have basically prevented him from ever being able to tour in the US again.
Basically no matter what he did he was going to get fucked.
This is why functional monopolies of venues is extremely bad. Because they can force situation like this to happen and basically censor who gets to play in the country.

He was in a bad spot and it's unfair to say otherwise. That's kind of the problem. First, that he could be put in that spot on the whim of one man, and his terrible handling of that tough spot. If he had just played it that there were too many jobs and paychecks on the line and he had to play it safe. Instead he either A. No way. He has enough star power that he could have pushed back or gone to other venues. We are seeing in real time that the public is sick of Zionists. If he had taken a stand like he did with Ukraine, I would be willing to bet people would flock to his shows. I wanted to go specifically to watch Macklemore and I would have left before Ed took the stage. If he had sided with Macklemore, I would have stayed for his set too out of support.
