Why do you need a battery warranty if the battery is not yours?

Not sure about this model, but I couldn't agree more with you about models with sun roofs in India. India is overall majority hot AF. And every car makes is giving sun roof models only in the top trim versions. So you can't buy anything but the lowest model trim of a car, and not get sun roof. It really radiates heat from that portion on your head in summers. Even with sun roof closed

Rent-seeking lizards. A bullet is too good for them.

I'm not sure a bullet will do where you need a 4 wheeler.

Didn't Renault try it few years ago? Looks like it didn't catch on.

Possibly in American or European markets... But this is the first time in India. Renault EV may not sell very well in India still, but this could motivate other car markets like Hyundai or Tata to come up with an option to come with medium cost cars with battery cost per km. This suits person like me who may not drive more than 50km per day, but wants to buy next car an EV (20 yr old honda city due for replacement)

yeah no, just another subscription

I'd agree with you normally. But consider India... It's a price sensitive market. Normal cost of a good EV hatchback here (Hyundai / Tata) is around INR 1.5 - 2.0 million. Having an option to buy an EV for 0.9 million INR will push a lot of buyers away from Petrol, into the EV fold

Also Indian govt is giving some discount on car registration and road tax fee for EV vehicles. So it's will help the common man further who would have purchased a petrol or diesel vehicle at full registration and road tax cost on road

yeah, I can see your point. For those that do not have the cash necessary this would seem like a good opportunity to own one. I am just not in favor of yet another monthly payment that any buyer would have to make (in addition to their monthly payment) so that they can continue driving it.
