Diesel up around 100% in parts of Australia. It s settled a bit now, but before the invasion I purchased at 1.64/L. Peaked at $3.20/l, today about $2.90/l.

Just wait until you find out how much money the Trumps have raked in.

Logical takeaways from Mr. Bilello’s post:

Stock market does not equal economy

A warning. Input prices are up. But so is the market? There could be a reckoning. (Severity and timing are wild cards. Don’t try to trade on it. You’ll be wrong. That’s my take.)

Markets are getting more exhuberant/risky/speculative.

Huh. Like this was all a giant scam by people who have done nothing but run giant scams...

Sorry if I make you mad (Not a US citizen). What about the oil from Texas ? - Is that a "wrong" kind or is it only for export (Like a lot where I live) ??

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not a wrong kind, just one of the many kinds. Not all crude is the same. Different crudes lend themselves more efficiently to yielding different products. So while the US technically produces enough oil to meet its daily consumption needs by volume, it still imports and exports. Refiners want a variety of crudes for profitable economics. The US will never be “energy independent” as some advocates try to preach.

Just for those that don't know: VIX is a metric for volatility, and it dropping means that markets don't expect things to change quickly.

But the Dow??

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hedge with VIX.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So that means that the market is stable. It's a good thing right?

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I mean, so is a free fall. So stable and smooth, all the way down. Sass aside, stable just means predictable. People that earn mony perdicing stock market trends love perdictable, even when lime goes down they make money by shorting it.

Thank you. TIL

You can think of VIX as

A measure of anxiety, not danger.

How expensive it is to insure against near-term market swings

A weather forecast. Not climate change.
