Hey random question, what do you use the grid mat for? I see them in most warhammer mini painting pictures but idk what you use them for.

It's a solid board for working with models on, with a grid to aid any precise work

They’re Self Healing Cutting Matts. Very useful for protecting surfaces from cuts, spills etc as well as a useful measurement gauge.
like the others say, and in addition, I lay down hobby masking tape or water slide decals on the mat, then I cut them with a hobby knife
