I posted my battle vest a little while ago and it got some decent praise. It also gained the attention of a fellow imgurian who offered to send some Girl Scout patches. This is the update! Thanks for the rad additions @ironynotwrinkly

@ironynotwrinkly came through and delivered some patches to be added to the vest. I felt this “Tough Cookie” patch belonged next to Bay Area Thrash legends VIO-LENCE.

Also in the envelope was a party favor patch. Juliette Low, whoever you are, I hope your Halloween Birthday Party was as rad as this vest is turning out to be. Your patch lives next to NOFX and Annihilator now.

WOW, nice Death Angel patch up top! My best concert ever was seeing them when they were The Organization at the Octopus Lounge two decades ago. They played Seemingly Endless Time for the encore.

No Metallica? 80s Metallica was awesome.

Death Angel and Vio-lence.

I‘ll upvote for Tankard!

One of my favorite German Big 4. Next to Kreator

I mean, of all patches to get, they bestowed upon you the most metal of them all: Tough Cookie. That's pretty heavy.

It’s definitely one of my favorite now

This is badass. Also have my 2 favorite bands on there, Lamb Of God and Alice in Chains

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No Iron Maiden? As a Brit, I am a disappoint ;)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As an American, i don’t sleek Britlandish. Although I was able to translate Iron Maiden, and can say, I like what I like.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah dude, badass battle vest! Lots of MY favorite bands on there too!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This vest and its girl scout patches make me unbelievably happy.

Ohhh thank YOU for following through and putting them on your vest! You are awesome! is there a follow through trophy for this user since they totes followed through and added the patches? @sarahpls can you help?

I always upvote Megadeth.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m seeing them at a festival this summer

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sweet man! I hope they play some shit off their new album for you. I saw them here in Oslo just before the album was released and they didn't play any new stuff. Wasn't disappointed, as it's always a pleasure to see them, but that new album is some serious shit!

You catch any flak for the Allin patch yet?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, no one has said anything about it. I’ve got his patch sewed under my armpit. Thought it was an appropriate location. if someone wanted to talk about the patch, I wouldn’t defend him or anything he has done. He’s a punk legend and that’s about it. I can’t sympathize with his actions. At this point, he’s to punk what pentagrams are to metal: imagery/making a statement.

Juliette Gordon Low was the founder of the Girl Scouts. She died on 1927 so if she attended the party it was a great Halloween Birthday party

3 years ago | Likes 183 Dislikes 0

So….did it take her an entire year to die?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s metal as fuuuuuk

3 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 0

She was a badass and started the Girl Scouts. She took no shit, was super smart and insured girls learned the skills to be leaders. Her history is seriously cool!

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Her birthday was October 31st, so we celebrate her at Halloween.

Thank you random stranger!!!

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

@OP do you only put patches on from groups you have seen in concert?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I only put patches on from bands and things I like. I’m not old enough to have seen Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Bob Dylan, The Beetles, Jimmy Hendricks, Bob Marley etc etc in concert

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whoaw that's hella badass. Reminds me of a similar vest I used to rock, back in the day. That Girl Scout Tough Cookie badge makes it even more badass, hehe.

Excellent garb. But I’m disappointed there’s no GWAR patch. Not so disappointed there won’t be a +1, but still.

I just saw them last month. Always fun

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Totally. I saw them last fall and caught the flu at the show. Kind of appropriate

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuckin A! I have a couple modified Girl Scout patches on my battle vest too, courtesy of my sib who was a scout once upon a time. Love it!

Ah yes, my favorite band... *squints* ...Pabst Blue Ribbon

Is it frowned upon to use a machine to sew patches on a battle vest? I have a vest on whcih i want to put patches but i fear doing it "wrong" by using my machjne.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also… note: all my patches were hand sewn EXCEPT the slayer back patch. This large one was done with a machine. And average 3x4” patch (with experience) wouldn’t take more than 20min by hand

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, I say this time and time again, there’s no wrong way to express yourself. Anyone who says otherwise is a gatekeeper who can be ignored. NOW, my recommendation/advisory is that with a machine, you run the risk/ guarantee of sewing down your internal and external pockets. If pocket access is a non-issue, use a machine if you know how. I prefer hand (whip stitch). It’s therapeutic and easier of the methods. Put some music on and let’er rip ‘tater chip

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right i forgot pockets. Tho there are no pockets on the back.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Very true, unless you make your own stash pocket for a rain poncho or something. Something I have considered. Make it your own man! I went as far as adding Velcro strips to the inside pockets to be sure valuables would be secure. Also, I refer to my inside pockets as “beer pockets” because they comfortably hold 4 beers total for when I’m waiting in line at festivals :D

Here’s a Reddit link to an older progress video. Feel free to take inspiration ideas. The under collar mustache is a joke “disguise” when security or festival photographers show up. Also the secret Velcro pocket in the Airbourne patch is a cash stash, or to hide… chapstick. https://www.reddit.com/r/BattleJackets/comments/m3s7o1/a_tour_of_covid_progress_any_more_creative_ideas/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

The Doors seem a little out of place.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Seeing as my vest is a collection of things I like, it fits right in. There are no rules.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes of course! Just an observation. I like some of the bands on it.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, gatekeeping is for losers. Don't do it. Don't fall into that trap. The jacket isn't for you. It's for the person wearing it. And the most metal thing you can do is tell people to fuck off and put what you want on it. Any good metal head should know that.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh easy man! I'm not criticizing! Just an observation. The Doors are as known as a Hippie band I guess is all. All the metal bands then The Doors pop up. Interesting I would say.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good work. That's mine still in progress

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WODOS! iykyk

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

German Big 4 rips. I’ll be seeing Kreator at a festival in August. I saw Tankard 2 months ago too

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gonna see Sodom in December playing an old school set. Really looking forward to it

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shiiiit maybe I’ll make the Oberhausen show. Hell yeah. Thanks for the heads up man.
