you have to use the "leave beta link" in settings

Been reported already. I got a reply in my mail saying they're working on it. For the time being, click on any username and "leave beta"

And yes, it doesn't work on reply notifications for some reason, but at least it works with normal posts.

once you've clicked it, close the browser down completely, then open it back up to imgur, and if it's still showing new, hold CTRL+F5.
