I had a knee replacement that got infected. It was a grain bacteria. The same one that started the salem witch hysteria. My doc has no idea where it came from.

Hamdguns have a 100% chance of destroying bad bacteria, so you'll be fine. /xkcd reference

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Unknown growth? Could be funval or even MRSA at this point

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're in good hands. I watched this one documentary that followed an infectious disease specialist, and he was very good. Almost no one died. How do you feel about mouse bites?

"Unknown growth on my cultures"

Look, imma be real with you OP, we need you to take one for the team here and walk into the incinerator, ive played enough plague inc to see how this plays out and this is not the fucking year

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On the plus side, same bite 250 years ago and you'd lose the leg if you were lucky. Your life if not. Modern medical care is a fucking miracle.

2 months ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 0

Republicans are working to "fix" this as we speak.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Imagine losing the leg and then dying anyway. Happened a lot.

"The good news is we stopped the spread of the infection from stepping on a random sharp thing in the forest."
Great!
"The bad news is the amputation site got infected because the doctor had been brought from an autopsy and didn't wash his hands."

You missed a chance to say, "on the pus side". Smh

Unfortunately they try not to name new diseases after people now ( negative stigma ), but we woulda loved the "IMPICKLERICK staphylococcus"... after enough time that the new pandemic would be considered funny.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Aw sweet gonna get a disease named after you. Maybe even a bacterium!

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hope you feel better soon dude.

"So on the bright side, you get to name it!"

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No the doctor gets the name it.
It might be named after them though.

Damn, abscesses suck. I had one in my ass that formed a fistula. When it burst, there was pus everywhere. It required surgery to fix the fistula. I hope you have a quick and speedy recovery.

2 months ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Ass, fisting, pus, what is happening here?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm going to regret this, but I'm going to google Fistula to confirm it is what I think it is.

2 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

damn

2 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

That damn is … very telling. I’m sorry for what you have witnessed

2 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Currently in recovery from my fourth major outbreak and third surgery for a bacterial infection which formed abscesses (over the course of several years). Surgeon removed an area of scar tissue and possibly infected area roughly the size of an egg. Interior sutures uncounted, but exterior sutures itch like hell. They hopefully come out today. May your recovery be smooth, fast and painless.

How does this happen?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In my case, I think it was a staph infection. Nobody ever tested the bacteria, but it presented as staph. Nearly 1/3 of humans carry it on their skin. The infection causes a weepy sore after forming something akin to a pimple. The sore, if not treated correctly, burrows into the skin deeper and deeper. Antibiotics kill the infection, but traces remain inside, ready to reinfect. I had burrows 4cm deep in three locations radiating from the sore, infliltrating the muscle of my back.

I had an abscess in my perineum, the space between your legs, between genitals and anus), about as big around as a ballpark hot dog, and about half as long. One of the most painful things I've ever experienced, it finally burst while I was standing in a checkout line at Walmart.. that was a lot of blood, and definitely very ruined clothes.

The immediate pain relief was intense enough that I didn't really even care about the embarrassment at the time

Something about fistula and ass want me to crack a joke, but i cant be bent over for one

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0
