Plus it basically resets the immune system to zero ("immune amnesia"), so children or adults become susceptible to basically every virus again, with close to zero immune protection. From cold to Covid to all the other infections they might have already gone through or were vaccinated against. This takes 2-3 years of illness for the immune system to go back to where it had been.

When I was a child, the MMR vaccine was not available in my country and so when I started working abroad in a developed country that had this vaccine available for adults at a reasonable price I made sure I got me some anti measles vaccine. It seems logical to me to take advantage of something that can help you not get sick.

For some, you can get a titer test that checks for the antibodies to the disease in your system ( an indication you either had the disease, or had the vaccine). For the rest, yes, ask your doctor, and get them if indicated.

They didn't lie about the vaccinations. They claimed that they couldn't get vaccinated for religious reasons to get out of having to vaccinate where the situation other wise would have required it. It's technically illegal in the US to enroll in public schools without vaccination. Same for military service (they vaccinate you whether you want it or not). A lot of jobs require vaccinations too. But religious exemption overrules the law.

I work in healthcare i have a coworker who claims religious exemption from flu and covid vaccine but has never in all the years I've worked with him gone to church never mentioned religion till Covid and is all butt hurt a program turned him down because it requires those vaccines. Trying to explain it's just as much the programs choice to not allow him in as his choice to no vaccinate it's working with high risk pts as is(it's a private funded program)

How we challenge religious exemptions definitely needs to change. Nobody can say "murder us part of my religion" and just go home after the court case with a W. Should be the same for religious people. You can't claim religious exemption and go to public school or hold a job that requires something your religion doesn't allow. Simple as that. Home school your kids. Work from home and don't leave your house etc.

I'm not a fan of religious sects, but I feel like the solution there should be education and access to improve immunization rates (even though the language barrier is voluntary at this point).
