Lets get this bread

Pippin tax!

Today's message from Pippin: "i love you too!"
___

1) Are you on the run to a safe place and passing through Arizona on your way to safer grounds? My apartment is open to you to crash at, and it is a safe space. Pippin and I will make you a meal and gladly share tea, wine, or mead with you.

2) Hey! Take your meds with a full glass of water, please. Do it for Pippin, or Space Mom, or better yet, do it for yourself.

3) Ĝefeloað wē. We will carry on.

4) all funds from the sales of items at these two links will be sent to support charities aiding to fight for Trans rights in the US (not just T-shirts!)

#16 When Spaniards got to Florida, there were so many fruit trees, they thought God had intended the land for them. They didn't realize the natives had spent centuries cultivating those groves. Later, Americans would argue it was fine to take the natives' land because, "They aren't doing anything with it."

#26 Dunning-Kruger corollary: smart people know how limited their knowledge is.

#12 You know, maybe censoring completely innocuous words needs to stop when you're not sure if it's supposed to be "homosexual" or "homicidal"

6 days ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 2

If only it was "hermeneutical", that would have been interesting.

Heretical

Homicidal penguins makes this a much more interesting tweet, actually.

#47 "For example, there was the Raddles' privy. Miss Level had explained carefully to Mr. and Mrs. Raddle several times that it was far too close to the well, and so the drinking water was full of tiny, tiny creatures that were making their children sick. They'd listen very carefully, every time they heard the lecture, and still they'd never move the privy. But Mistress Weatherwax told them it was caused by goblins who were attracted to the smell, and by the time they left that cottage 1/2

Mr. Raddle and three of his friends were already digging a new well at the other end of the garden."

#7 this is 100% accurate and I've had this complaint about online shopping. It takes all the fun out of wandering into a store and coming home with a thing you want. Like art supplies. 9 times out of 10 when I want something specific for art I have to order it online and it's so much LESS fun that way

Yeah you can't go out looking for a Christmas gift anymore, to just see what "grabs" you as right for each person.

#15 That's from Carpe Jugulum. One of my absolute faves. There is so much wisdom in there about humanity, and good, and evil, and the sin of inaction. The importance of knowing who you are, and what matters to you.
It's also hilarious, but that's probably not a surprise.

GNU Sir Terry.

#12 shouldn't share censored memes, specially if they think the word homosexual needs to be censored

6 days ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 5

Yeah, that's kinda gay. /s

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I read it as "homicidal" and still laughed at the end

6 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

That's what I read it as!!

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nothing wrong with the meme, but the self censorship of our (any) content is cringe and dumb.

Kill the part that cringes, sure, but kill the part that follows the whims of a corpo demand for how we should share and consume our content

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What if it turns me gay though

ik this is a meme, but i recently watched the Premodernist video talking about this topic. he indicates that technology is not why the european settlers were able to conquer the americas, but rather disease. he was insisting that the sellers were not so vastly technologically superior and that it wasnt until the industrial revolution that major technology gaps begin having significant effect.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The next time a white nationalist talks about Cortés and the Aztecs, remind them disease killed half of the pre-1492 native population, and it still took Europeans 400 years to control the continent. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_American_disease_and_epidemics#On_population

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

yea in the video i mentioned he spoke of the absurd amount of deaths caused by population density and animal domestication related diseases that the native americans had never encountered. very sad

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can see that. Sure we had guns and armor and horses and wagons. But while a gun makes a huge hole in a guy man #2 has made 4 smaller holes with arrows which is just as effective if not more. Metal armor does very little against a war club smashing against your brain pan. But plagues remove the need to fight. We won because we had more healthy people.

At least they gave us syphilis and tobacco.

History is written by the victors and they are never the bad guys in their own story. Sometimes survival is all it takes sometimes.
