A day in the life of a trucker (21 July, 2026)

Hello!

Starting this on site in Windsor, Nova Scotia, today.

I backed up first at the crane because the other truck, who had the tank that was supposed to go in first to make things easier for the crave, was late and no one knew where he was.

He eventually showed up. He had four days to get here and managed to be late. He also didn't have proper work boots for a job site. He was also rude, impatient, not very friendly.

Very unprofessional.

No one on the job site was happy about this company, and they apparently had already filed a complaint against them on a previous job. Another complaint was filed today.

That's what you get when you hire cheap freight. You get cheap service.

Once His Lateness was done, I backed up to get my tank off the trailer.

And down in the pit it went.

This sign they have on the fence, by the entrance, reminds me of that one time we brought new tanks for the Irving cardlock in Deer Lake, Newfoundland. They were renovating the cardlock and had a similar sign up, saying "Please visit us at our nearest location."

Goobies.

That's 480 kilometres further east. I laughed so much.

Oooh, a deer. And it's sunny, so definitely not a rain deer.

Got my convenience store coffee, and good to go. We've got a bit of driving to do. So, let's have some bagpipes music.

A rare thing. Me, stopping for some junk food. I didn't pack lunches for this week, not knowing how long I was to be on the road for. While I do have some food in the truck, I felt like having cheap burgers.

And with nothing on the trailer, and simply driving towards where I'll load tomorrow, I figured I'd stop here in Oromocto, on the curb of the off/on ramp of the highway where are the trucks park, and see myself if any of the restaurants or stores were within a reasonable walking distance.

Reasonable for me is anything within a two kilometres walk isn't an issue. This reminds me when I go shopping, with my car, I always park very far from the doors. Far enough that Mélanie, this weekend, told me to "try not to park on the Moon this time."

And I told her okay, I'll park on Mars instead. And I did park very far from the entrance, hahaha.

Anyone going shopping with me will walk. A lot.

So I got me three burgers. Without mustard. I hate mustard so much. Even the smell I can't tolerate. That and olives, I just can't. The only mustard that I can somewhat stand a little is real dijon mustard.

Oh, His Lateness was also at that McDonald's. You should have seen the look he gave me, hahaha!

And that is it for today. I pretty much drove the whole way through, except for my ten minutes stop in Oromocto. Tomorrow I'll be loading two pipes, wideload, and head back down East.

This will sleep well. It's pouring outside. Love it.

There are a few spots to check out in Nova Scotia. This, That, and The Other Street over here, in Porters Lake.

A large lake, which is about six kilometres south of Moose River Gold Mines.

And this place, with a name in French which, pronounced in English, gives a whole different vibe. This is about forty-five minutes from Yarmouth.

Yesterday's post seem to have gone completely under the radar, and the tags assigned to it didn't even work. I used to be able to get any bugs/issues sorted out in the past through Discord, but things have changed with Imgur since a year ago.
