Flames are from the Sawridge Motel in Fort McMurray on Tuesday

Discovered on May 1st 2016, the Fort McMurray fire has now spread into the city itself and all 60,000 residents and 20,000 outlying residents are on mandatory evacuation notice.

Overnight on Monday the fire doubled in size going from 1285 hectares to 2600.

I realize that many residents of the area may have other plans than browsing imgur, but the more information that is out there the better.

Currently right now if you're not in immediate danger, but require help, call 780-788-4000. If you are in immediate danger call 911.

Once you're out of danger, the government has asked evacuated residents to email wildfire@rmwb.ca with your name, location and confirmation of safety.

Unless in imminent danger, evacuees who are stranded on Highway 63 should stay put. Police will be patrolling the hwy with gas cans.

Official Evac areas:

Shell Canada said it will open its Albian Village, about 85 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, to all resident evacuees.

The Fort McKay First Nation, about 50 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, also opened camps to evacuees.

Residents south of the Suncor overpass can head to the Horizon North BlackSands Lodge. Residents north of the Suncor overpass are asked to head to Suncor’s Firebag site, about 88 kilometres up the road.

Those north of the Athabasca Bridge are asked to head north on Highway 63. Residents who are south of the bridge are to head south to the Anzac Recreation Centre.

Northern Lights Regional Health Centre is now fully evacuated so please seek refugee at the above locations where First responders and military will be waiting to assist.

Wood Buffalo: Damaged but not as severe as Abasand or Beacon Hill
