His worst triumph was getting the GOP to stop worrying about deficits and debt. Later the Iraq war was put on the USA credit card (debt selling treasuries) and no taxes went up. No millitary draft, so no protests from rich White kids. Reagan made all the millitary buildup painless and easy. We'll never get the bill for all that right?

I just wanna take a moment to point out that it wasn't specifically Reagan himself who did these things. It was the vast network of Republican and Federalist (honestly the same thing for the most part) machinery operating behind the curtain that did these things. Reagan was just their mouthpiece and their vehicle for actually getting them done. This is not a defense of Reagan; he was horrific. I just want everyone to understand that the enemy from back then is still alive and is the enemy today.

That does not seem to be true at all. He was worried his son was gay when he took up ballet, but there's no indication that he actually was gay. He was widowed from his first wife after 34 years, and married his second wife in 2018. I see nothing indicating even a suspicion that he's gay.

It's very slightly more complicated than that. Oh, Reagan totally fucked it up by letting companies do stock buybacks whenever they wanted, but companies were allowed to do stock buybacks before. They just had to announce them way ahead of time and file a ton of paperwork showing that it really was the best use of that money/was truly needed from an internal control perspective. So it was a giant PITA and most companies didn't do it.

Let's not forget Zero Tolerance. ANY amount of ANY drug found in ANY vehicle coming across the border into the US, meant immediate, vehicular seizure and confiscation. I lost my 1 year old (basically brand new) car for less than .08 grams total of marijuana. Another guy lost his sailboat (that was also his home) over a joint found in a pocket of a guests jacket left accidentally, months earlier. The list goes on. All seized vehicles were auctioned off, proceeds used to fund "The War On Drugs".
