Ah I love Cats, too! Ever since I was a kid ( I’m quite old now) . I thought it was so revolutionary and different . Still, no one will go see it with me lol . Also the CGI movie never happened.

#29 I don't know exactly what this is from, but based on context clues, I'm going to say it is the "The Floor Is Lava" musical.
disposabledom
I will never forgive Hadestown for wasting three hours of my life

Let me double down: Hadestown is a GARBAGE musical that stands in the shadow of Hamilton wishing it was clever.
I can't hum two notes from this auditory abortion.
And the audience has the fucking audacity to GASP at the end, like children being shown a coin trick.
Worst. Musical. Ever.

#20 So glad you included Hadestown 🥹 Anais Mitchell is an old friend of mine, and I happen to believe she's one of the best songwriters of our time. I have always loved musicals and was so stoked when she decided to write one, because boy did she ever knock it out of the park. To anyone who hasn't seen it: do yourself a favor. It's extremely relevant to our times.

WHAT!!!! Tell her I want to name a child after her but l don’t want kids so it’s going to be cats instead! It’s literally the greatest musical of the 21st century and I’m so excited for the proshot

Hadestown even has a song about building a wall, and people still voted for Trump.

Me, in 2010, listening to the new Anaïs Mitchell album, "Huh. This is really good. Feels like a musical. I mean, more than the rest of her work normally does. Cool."

#5 I was in choir from age 4 to 17. Never got a solo (sad non-soprano noises) BUT I worked hard and when there were no boys, I got to be the only tenor, so that's almost the same, right? (Low-pitched sobbing intensifies)

#1 Jesus wept. Is this why? Is this why I like a little lisp?
TooSoonOldTooLateSmart
I want to see them all.
#5 I loved Hugh in Oklahoma, but Gordon MacRae is a bit better in the movie. Also Hugh fell just a little short in the Les Miz movie.
#10 Jeremy Jordan was in the Supergirl TV series. Cat Grant called him a cute hobbit. I have seen very little of his stage work, on video.
#23 This is the Balcony Scene, D'oh!
#49 I am sorry I missed Natasha, Pierre, and the Comet of 1812, with Joshua Groban. I read War and Peace many years ago.

#11 I can sing songs from 1950's musicals I heard once, 30 years ago, when I was drunk. I can't remember a single Sondheim song 5 minutes after the movie ends.

If you can’t remember ”Send in the Clowns” you might be brain dead.
(No offense intended)
MachinatioVitae
Three generations of my family have sung "A Bushel and a Peck" to their children.
marthafarquar
I can probably sing a couple of verse of "Sit Down You're Rockin The Boat" now.
EroticZombiePants
I can remember being a young kid and there was a school event where each class did a couple of numbers from a musical. We did something from South Pacific. I don't remember what we boys sang, but the girls sang "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right out of My Hair". In hindsight, it's kind of weird having like 8-year-old girls singing that.
eadanke
Probably "Bloody Mary"

#11 Gilbert and Sullivan say what? By far the most hummable and catchy.

#1 Does anyone else want to see the original bleak depressing ending of this the test audiences hated so much they had to bring people back to do emergency reshoots?
mindnumbingbraincandy
You can see cuts of it on youtube
BillyM00n
The original ending is in the director's cut and it's fucking awesome. It's immediately obvious that this is the ending that everyone involved intended and they all went SO HARD to bring it to fruition.
DrDoorman
Two things about why i think it tested poorly. 1. The musical has all the dead as flowers on the plant singing the last song and lets the audience see all actors again, the movie didnt. 2. The Mean Green Mother song is catchy but to have the bad guy sing a victory song and then win is just way too bleak. Nix that song and add the singing flowers and it would have worked
Tomigami
I like the idea that Audrey 2 had read the script ahead of time (he's so bad he got an advanced copy), saw he was gonna win, worked up an entire musical number to gloat, then the narrative was like "well now I'm not gonna do it" and let Seymour/Audrey blow him up. None are above the curse of hubris, Mean Green.
PillsburyFroBoy
Just watch the broadway musical. They didnt change the stage show, they only changed the movie ending.
mindnumbingbraincandy
They did change minor parts of the show for the movie that makes seymour more sympathetic , and makes the whole story less of a faustian tale. Example: Seymour doesn't purposefully make Mushnik go into the plant in the movie in the same way he intentionally feeds him to Audrey 2.
snarkybitch
I am ignorant about musicals but wouldn't Elphaba and Glinda be sisters?
danat101
They’re roommates 😏 and no- no biological relation
snarkybitch
I really need to watch it
