Yeah. The prequels get shit on a lot.
They're what I grew up with. I remember seeing Ep1 in theaters. On my 10th birthday. OMG. The hype.
They aren't perfect. But I promise that they'll forever have a place in my heart.
Also. Who remembers the Dr. Pepper cans with all the characters on them!?

Also, of all the new music created for any Star Wars related project since the end of ROTJ in the early 1980's, Duel of the Fates is, for me, the most earthshakingly impressive and memorable piece of writing/performance that I can think of.

I'm not sure if it's in the same category but the way The Rpublic Theme swells only to be strangled by The Imperial March at the end of Ep2 when the clone troopers are embarking on their transports is up there as well.

The duel was over which future Anakin would get - one with Qui-Gon or one with Obi-Wan.
Wonder if he'd be better off being a padawan to Qui-Gon or not.

Ancillary material has reiterated a bunch of times that Qui-Gon would've ferreted out Palpatine's plan long before episode 3 and likely would've prevented Skywalker's fall.
But, from a meta-perspective, that's just trying to put a bow on Skywalker's tragedy after the fact. If Qui-Gon stuck around, something else would've come along because he always had to become Vader.

I'd think he would have been better off with Qui-Gon. His Master being more unconventional, pragmatic and in the here and now might have prevented or at least eased a lot of problems.

Thanks for posting these. Absolutely breathtaking to hear Morricone so faithfully represented. And the Mancini done with every flair, flutter, rustle & nuance, just amazing.
Btw, that "pennywhistle" is really a soprano recorder (the original "woodwind"). A real pennywhistle is straight bamboo with a reed wedge, played by blowing from the end similarly to the recorder, rather than a side aperture the way a flute is played. Recorders can cost hundreds; pennywhistles are cheap, hence the name.

Again, these performances are incredibly well executed & the cinematographer has somehow managed to capture the truest nature of the quintessential philharmonic concert hall experience, so thanks for bringing them to my attention. It's been 15 years since I attended an actual symphony performance, but I felt like I was right there today. Saved to favorites.
