Love TPB

It’s been a rough two weeks, things haven’t been going as planned, but still we’re here, still we’re toiling, still we continue on, for better days ahead.

Though the content that will be coming in the next few days is different than what was originally intended, I’m doing the best I can, but hey if you like Sonic the Hedgehog, especially original Sonic, check out my YouTube, I have multiple videos scheduled to drop for the next week, spaced out as evenly as possible. Your support will always mean the world to me.

#8 it’s ok, A Fry time clone goes back in time and lives with Seymour for many years as Lars.

#8 I was babysitting my 3 year old niece. She was obsessed with futurama. I didn't notice what episode was on until too late. They show the montage of Seymour getting older...she turns with those huge brown eyes already welling with tears...I'm the worst uncle.

I saw a video somewhere of a Cybertruck with a digital banner on the “tailgate” (if that’s even what you’d call it), with animated videos trashing Elon. Idk how you could like the Cruck but hate the guy that created it. They’re both horrible lol

#6 problem is the same people calling the shots in the games industry are the ones who think it’s a good idea to follow “trending now” tags and get devs to shove that in the game. The kinda people who will get frustrated when you aren’t meeting quotas set by chat GPT. The kinda people who want players to pay per reload of your sidearm

#6 the Witcher 3 still looks so damn good. Also, zi remember watching some video about photorealism on a Need for Speed game from 2015, and it was frankly impressive.
Photorealism is pretty good as it is, especially with good optimization, but it will never be a substitute for an engaging story and interesting gameplay mechanics. If only people would learn from the success of games like Stardew Valley or Terraria...

#6 How about better gameplay?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#6 Games don't need better graphics or stories necessarily. They need reasons to suck you in. Sometimes it's a story, sometimes it's gameplay. I know I'd take a good ol Mario over some story focused slop like last of us or nu god of war, but I'll also take a good RPG that blends story and fun gameplay mechanics.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don’t think it’s necessarily the graphics that matter, per se, so much as the styling. If you’re wanting a gritty story driven game where details are important, I think finding a stylistic choice that complements that should be priority, with graphics coming later.

#6 games already have good stories. Just stop buying mediocre AAA-studio drivel. Buy ten small indies for the same price.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I will say idek what it would take for a AAA studio to get me to buy their game anymore. Like out of everything announced currently, I’m excited about Doom: The Dark Ages and GTAVI. Even out of those I’m only buying Doom because I know my set up can’t handle GTA and I’m not about to drop $2K to get an entire new set up to handle that monster of a game

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Last AAA I bought was AC:Valhalla from a steep discount, and the next one would be GTA6. But I'll have to upgrade my potato before that comes out. In the meantime, I've had a blast sourcing 2-10 hour long small indie games from the 2-5 buck range. I can complete 3 games to 100% in a single weekend and have fun with each one. There's amazing variety and soooo many options.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s fair. I have a hard time getting into indie games because I’m not huge on side scrollers which is a popular method in the indie category

#6 get your story out of my anime titty games

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#6 Frankly, stop buying AAA titles. There's lots of Indie games that do precisely what we all want our games to do. Hell, doesn't HAVE to be indie even. There's major studios, just not AAA studios, that do so (Dave the Diver comes to mind) Not sure if Hades is actually Indie either, but it's one of the best games ever made, on pretty much every single count. The biggest problem seems to be the biggest, richest studios most of the time.

Woah! They had an IQ of 84. It's low but for 10% of a brain that's not bad. Interestingly enough, this case proves that there is not one region of the brain responsible for consciousness.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

70 for performance, 84 was just verbal iq. And: "The scan picture supports the view that for conscious activities, minimal neural structures required are the upper layers of the cerebral cortex and the brainstem."

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know that's below normal because Forrest Gump's mom had to sleep with the superintendent to get him into public school with an IQ of 75

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Back then maybe, but with the current influx of Trumpers I wouldn't be so sure.

#6 They need better stories and supporting game mechanics.

1 year ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

I'd settle for less dogshit writing in general. Don't need a decent story but dialogue shouldn't be cringey or nonsensical. If the dialogues make you roll your eyes its bad.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, the masterful story of Balatro. Such plot twists and dialogue.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I mean... Jimbo has the best dialogue.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Many would be better with no story at all. SO many games have paper-thin story elements slapped on that only get in the way.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mario is a prime example of not needing better graphics or story

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I don't care about story. It's not a book or a movie. Its story only needs to be good enough.

Immersion is most important.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun game mechanics all the way. The games I have hundreds of hours in aren't story games at all

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It doesn’t help when you have companies like Warner Bros who make interesting game mechanics then patent it so nobody else can use it

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Between my daughter, my wife, and I, we have 1700 hours in Minecraft as of yesterday :D

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If anything, they need a better understanding of their own themes, if I play another "violence bad" game that forces me to kill ten billion people because the devs couldn't figure out a way to make their game interesting without five or six meaningless fight scenes between sad dialogue moments, I'll be fit to shit myself in anger.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Dishonored did the theme best imo

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know it didn't resonate with a lot of people, but I thought Spec Ops: The Line had some pretty good commentary. A lot of it is more directed towards the violent video games as a genre, and I think a lot of details are a bit more subtle and easy to miss, and I do think parts could have been executed better, but I really liked it.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I retroactively hate the game because of developer interviews, where they essentially say you're at fault for the events of the game by continuing to play it. My intense dislike is completely divorced from the game's mechanics, and narrative though, those guys are so up their own asses it's unbearable.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that either. I think the game did plenty on its own with the "you didn't need to do this" by showing that the MC had opportunities to step back (and you can extrapolate that to the player if you really want to) and take a different path. I think they tried to make that message extra meta in those interviews and kinda fucked it up.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Personally, I find that in scenes where they paint you as making the "wrong" choice (white phosphorus, for example) and there is no right choice to make, I check out of the narrative. SO:TL would have been an interesting film when lifted verbatim, but the meta commentary (Do you feel like a hero yet?) falls flat when I am forced to do things. The game shoots a baby, then puts the gun in your hand and calls you a monster.
