I saw another image out there describing Cloud Computing and as an IT guy thought it was not a bad representation, but it did seem a bit misleading to me...

The gist of it is this, your data is safe with cloud backups. #1, the entire process is encrypted by a totally random string normally generated by the actions or moving a mouse, you can't get more random than that, and in this case, random number generation is a great thing. No one is getting to that stuff, even if they tried. to give you an example, if someone tried to DE-crpyt a single datapacket it would normally take months or years if they didn't have your randomly generated key locked by your password.. they don't have that, they're pretty much out. #2 Data availability. Your data is backed up incrementally to MULTIPLE load-balanced servers in separate geographic locations.If say, one datacenter burns to the ground, more than likely there are at least 3 more out there already taking it's place.

All in all, GET A BACKUP people!! I can't tell you how many times clients come to me with their 4-5 year old computers or external hard drives and ask me if i can save the pictures of their kids when they were babies.. My advice. buy the cloud backup, it's worth the $5/month and most have no space limitations. Do it because you'll never get another chance to take those baby or kindergarten graduation or pictures of Great Grandma smiling again..

I'm not here to sell anything so don't fault me for that. but for peace of mind, believe me, its worth it, and with data recovery prices normally starting in above $500 it's better to get ahead of this curve.
