These were so cool.
Vakkeran
They got an aggressive sounding V4 from Ford. They're pretty neat.

you leave that 1700cc v4 alone! (good luck on the convertion thou, got a 99t16 myself, would love a sonnet!)
OddlyPacific
The engine is great. It’s the transmission that needs to go. If I could reverse gear a Porsche transmission, I would. I do wish I had the two barrel intake manifold.

that rear window would make one hell of a solar panel
MrFancyPanzer
Thought that was a Datsun 240z/mustang mach 1 combo.
Type17
I can see where Datsun got their styling for the 120Y coupe
dwolvin
But 3/4 size. Sonetts are tiny!
OddlyPacific
It has an engine that was proposed for a mustang concept at one time and was designed by a firm that has designed Zs before, so you’re spot on!
MrFancyPanzer
Huh that's kind of neat!

This is a very rare sight these days. Thanks for sharing!

Saab is probably in my top 5 car brand. 900 Turbo was the pinnacle
OddlyPacific
SPGs and Viggens were awesome
dwolvin
I had a 900s (16 valve non-turbo). Honestly one of the best cars I ever drove, and amazingly functional.

Can we get a picture of the front end?
OddlyPacific
It’s not their best angle

I modified the headlights on one, in 1981, and drove it to Redwood City. Last I saw of it was in Santa Clara, 1992. I also made aluminum door panels for it.
OddlyPacific
Cool. I use the fog lights for headlights because I don’t love the air brakes. I also made aluminum door panels because that cardboard stuff was warping.

The original head light buckets would steal 10 mph off your highway speed.
