Even more recently, like the 50s that people romanticise. Why were they so good? Because from 1930-1950 you had a decade of the worst economic depression in the history of the US, then a world war which brought along rationing and discontinuing of civilian goods like cars. Then a slight reprieve before the Korean war which meant more rationing. Finally rationing went away in the early 50s. Just getting back to a "normal" was a massive step up for anyone.

Hey things WERE simpler. You just have to remember that "simpler" doesn't always mean "better". Being a peasant was pretty uncomplicated all things considered. Wake up work the fields eat stale bread and cabbage soup go to bed repeat until you die in your mid 30s.

Yes. Just in time to cash out my 401K before it all burns with a house that appreciated >700%. Born too much earlier and you have a lot more Jim Crow, lead paint, and gender inequality etc. with less vaccines and the Vietnam War to look forward to. Somewhere between 1955-1965 feels right. I was born in 88, and the future looked awfully bright in the 90’s, then Saturday morning cartoons died and the last 25 years happened.
