Capping a flaming oil well
Capping a flaming oil well. Or so I'm assuming based on my extensive knowledge of pretending to know what I'm talking about.
Sketchiest train tracks I've ever seen.
This guy is super impressive to watch work. From what I can tell he's extending the drill shaft on an oil mining machine. Again though... don't really know what I'm talking about.
More of this guy cause he's clearly spent a lot of time getting damn good at this.
Berthing of a tanker on an inflated baffle rolling delivery system. I almost sounded like I knew what I was talking about there right!
Oil tanker launched with inflatable rollers
Barry the baffle's last day on the job. He will be missed.

Get well soon barry
sharpDriver
It's not a tanker by the way. Dry cargo.

#2 is what I imagine the underground tracks in St. Petersburg are like, based on the smoothness of the ride
ImMrLiteral
Wow, that last gif was totally baffling.
Janusha
Oil mining... Who knew they mined for oil. This guy knows what hes talking about.
jiggs88
1st rig one is him pulling pipe out, the 1nd is him making a connection to add drill pipe and keep drilling. Source: I work on oil rigs
iMcFly
The drilling equipment in #3 reminds of the pilot episode to Stingray.
oloolooloolooloolo
I just could not get past the creeping smiling face in bottom right corner.
PerusinThrough
Came with the link. Seems overly enthusiastic but oh well!
0vertherainb0w
The ship though....freaky
fracitimout
Those old Kelly drilling hands are insane. Those chains have taken many many fingers
mopingoverwroughtrug
Joke my da, who worked rigs, told me: Guy slips, drops his wrench down the pipe. Takes days to retrieve the wrench. (1)
mopingoverwroughtrug
(2) They pull the wrench out, give it to guy, boss says "you're fired". Guy says "OK", tosses wrench back down the pipe, walks away.
steelstitch
Barry was just keeping something inside him that was slowly killing him. He had to just let it out
VodkaReindeer
#6 those two guys in yellow raincoats sure are good at standing still.
spacestationnumberfive
I don't care if the well is flaming, as long as it's happy.
bigfart
#3 & 4 as stated below are on a Kelly rig, the activity is 'making a connection'. My first rig was the same, haven't seen one in yrs now
5tarTrek
I think the first one is natural gas
unpaidsatyr
looks to be a natural gas blow out being capped to me.
RiPiVillain
Does the whole tanker flex as the nose goes in the water?
thatlamer
Can't really tell from the two clips in this post, but generally yes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89Mw6L69b6Y
CottonTShirtz
#2 prove for "swiggty swooty"?
BillHubbard
that my friend, is not a tanker.
ArthurPhillipDent
The drillomg rig guy is a Roughneck, universally recognisd as absojute beasts in the day. Moslty its a remote controlled one these days.
GorgeFloyd
I was a roughneck on a rig in the north sea 20 years ago!
ArthurPhillipDent
And were you an absolute beast? Arms like legs?
GorgeFloyd
Was :( Fat cunt now. Still strong though :)
gypsyspot
Throwing chains is a great way to lose fingers
hippylove
FASCINATING! Interesting!
Gotbread
I think we should use the inflated baffle rolling delivery system (IBRDS) for more stuff
Kaoss01
"Here is your hot dog sir" * rolls it to the customer on baffles*
Gotbread
Thats the spirit!
Kaoss01
Now i want a hotdog rolled to me on baffles :(
Gotbread
I think i have a business idea!
Kaoss01
Do it!

I forget where but it was to sabotage oil fields as a dictatorship was overthrown. Bad guys burning oil fields. Burned for weeks apparently
Alighierian
Saddam Hussein and the Kuwaiti oil fields. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuwaiti_oil_fires
ThermoNuke
Yes. It’s a controlled burn to try to minimize the environmental impact. Burns off oil, nat gas, bi-products, and possible H2S
BoomGottcha
H2S can be bad shit. Source: I work in the pulp/paper industry and it's a prevalent byproduct of the process
AncientPostNecromancer
I used to install fiberglass pipe for fluffpulp bleach plants in the south and reline the chlorine tanks. We relined some settling ponds[1]
AncientPostNecromancer
That cleared up the Black Liquor and other byproducts and i had to throw all those cloths away.
imjustgonnaleavethishere
H2S is indeed bad shit Source: I work in the bakken oilfield. Also when you burn it, it produces small amounts of sulfer dioxide, also toxic
Deliveryham
H2S is quite the bad shit sometimes Source: i was scrolling through imgur and two commenters said it was bad shit
BenNevis2017
What the fuck is up with those train tracks???
TheEdmontonMan
It's built in a boggy area and not maintained, that happens in Alberta sometimes too

Its in the US
AJMansfield
The tracks are bent due to hunting oscillations and resonance stuff from past trains driving on the track.
AJMansfield
They weren't installed that way, they became bent due to trains banging from side to side, making the bamging worse each time.
Broody2131
Could also be due to soil creep.
OtterlyMagnificent
Also temperature shifts don't help stop it.
Squatch42
I was told not to put pennies on train tracks because it could derail a train and kill everyone. Now I feel that might have been untrue.
AxelBeingCivil
A train will notice the presence of a penny on the tracks as much as it would notice your squishy human body; precisely not at all.
InsideWinner187
Just asking, y would u care?
TheRealPurpleDrink
Found the sociopath.
TrebuchetLaunchingFeces
Just asking, what the fuck does your comment have to do with his comment?
AxelBeingCivil
People being killed is a bad thing.

Huh, well waddaya know...it's in USA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X2A2f6E5DI

GlowstickJedi
WTF!? I was expecting Russia or China.
BestNameEverOfAllTime
Why? Those countries have extensive rail networks which are actually respected, used and properly maintained. Americans just drive cars.
professionalwindowlicker
Um the American rail network is the most extensive, respected, used, and maintained rail network in the world. This is just a small section
BestNameEverOfAllTime
yeah nah, General Motors made sure no one gives a shit about trains here.
eggmuffin
The most respected and the most used? How are either of those measured? Those claims just sheds doubt on the rest of what you said.

Barry was two days from retirement.

He didn't even get his cake and shitty watch. Poor Barry.
ReaperNo1
I hope his partner avenges him.
PerusinThrough
Word on the street is he faked his death for the insurance payout. Never can trust these damn baffles. Shifty folk.
dryerlint777
In my opinion they should all be gassed
ReaperNo1
I'd believe that about Harry, Larry, or even Gary. But Barry? Nah man, Barry's good baffles.
PerusinThrough
You're right. I'm ashamed I ever doubted him. I'll have to go to my quiet place and think about what I've done.
