I work in archiving and records management. The attacks on libraries has a lot of us in related fields pissed and, honestly, a bit scared. Libraries are a force for the common good.

I've been commenting on libraries being the most valuable thing we as a species possess for a while, and they're being neglected across the US. When the lights go out or AI pollutes all of the digital medium, physical books will be the only thing to pass on our collective knowledge. Read the book "A Canticle for Liebowitz" for a glimpse of what could happen to us if we don't preserve and protect the knowledge we have.
