I have autism and my kids are on different parts of the spectrum too. The stigma around autism is so fucking bad that people would rather run the risks of their children dying from something easily preventable than have a child be “not normal”. I’ve even had PSYCHIATRISTS refuse to say the word autism like it’s some kind of curse and just saying it will make them catch it, makes it real hard to keep my calm.

My best friend’s ex wife was full anti-vax and got full custody of their son. She remarried and had more kids. Friend’s son got sick, she refused to get him treated and he died at 14yo. We never learned about the death until 3 months later, when authorities were involved. I 1000% believe she killed her own kid via “anti-vax” to spite my friend. And she’ll get to be the victim.

Diphteria is a non-thing by now. In principle. Because we have shots. Her then blaming doctors is absolutely not ok. Yes, diphteria still occurs a couple of 10 cases per year in larger countries of the global north, but to not vaccinate your kid is simply negligence. And she needs to be judged, both by whomever she doesn't want to get judged by, and by courts.

The "freedom" argument bugs me so much (akin to how much "parental rights" pisses me off). The children have rights, and as a parent you have a duty to protect your children to serve that end. Like when that vegan health food couple killed their baby trying to feed it on a diet of soy milk. It's a failure of your duties as a parent to refuse vaccination, not "freedom". You aren't "free" to starve your child, or any number of awful things these people often propose.

Diphtheria is one of the more horrible ways to die: slowly drowning/suffocating. There's no reason anybody should ever get sick with diphtheria nowadays. Please get your shots (boosters required every 10 years).

Yes. They're called DPT or Tdap vaccines. All 3 are very effective against these possibly fatal diseases/infections. Highly recommended. While you're speaking with your provider, please ask about an MMR or measles booster or vax- you got this as an infant most likely, but there are better jabs available now. This one saves you & possibly others from potentially fatal disease. Might as well throw in flu & covid vaxes for this year too. I got both of those the same day, no problems at all. SURVIVE

Yeap. The DPT (or TDaP) vaccine is only good for 10 years. But the good news is, the combo vaccine protects you from diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and tetanus all at once!

Oooh that's what the D stands for, I had forgotten. I was a few years late on it last time, I was told I should get it on a multiple if 5 year to make it easy to remember when I need to get the booster
