I live in a rural community and we are only able to distribute one bag of VERY BASIC food per 6 people twice a month. We get anywhere from 200-350 families every other week. We were expecting 300-400 families for pre thanksgiving. Many people volunteered but I guess the tri county organization only has so many trucks and told us they have to skip us.
This fight is not over and we will do what it takes to make it happen. I just so disappointed to start the holidays this was. I'm not going to let my community down.

The other issue is logistics as we are so rural. I can probably find a few hundred turkeys but will have no way to transport and store them.

I'd say anywhere that people can buy items vs give money. People get hinky about giving cash (reasonably) but are more willing to buy and ship things, hence why I checked first about a wishlist.

Reach out to a local grocer they might be able to help? If you present official paperwork representing your organization....idk my hands were tied from previous experience because my boss was scared shitless of exceeding the rules for bulk selling under any form even if it was for a good cause so I the best I could offer our local charity was a $25 gift card that I used my own money to contribute but the next year the charity went to one of our other franchisees & he was willing to cover 1/2

The whole thing in exchange for some pictures so he could gloat over Facebook. Not great but that is the reality of it. If you reach out to your local grocers someone might be willing to assist if only for the self centered motivation of giving them something to brag about how selfless they are *rolls eyes*
