Laws mean nothing if they are not enforced.

Lowest. Bar. Possible. And even then, they'll do it anyway.

NoICE!

Filed last month, no injunction until the 16th of this month. Glad to see the legal system grinding along for us while the armed forces of the wealthy maim, kidnap, and kill with impunity.

Well at least this will force the U.S. Solicitor General to go to the supreme court if they want to try for a stay on the injunction. Trouble is scotus might side with the gov if that happens. BUT at this point scotus actually might not side with them, since their decision to stay the Noem v. Perdomo injunction has turned out to be so disastrous.

7 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

You'd think that until you remember that this court was emplaced with the sole and express purpose of giving the fascist take over of the US a legal veneer.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also people forget that a future pres has the power to stack the court themselves and actually if repubs get burned hard enough in midterms and beyond, justices are impeachable.

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

No, it wont force anything, because the orange pedo will just say "it is the way it is", and everyone will continue letting him off.

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Thx for this. Today's decision isn't volcanic, but it's important to see that the Judiciary is not beholden to the DoJ (yet)

7 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Well, the district level judiciary. Scotus used no vaseline on us with the Noem v. Perdomo injunction stay. (On that tho, that stay is temporary pending appeal in the 9th circuit, so it's still possible that although that fucking tool kavanaugh signaled scotus would concur again if it comes back to them, the circumstances on the ground are quite different now, so it could go either way. Sotomayor's dissenting opinion is very powerful writing.)

They aren't retaliating. They are assaulting.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We did it, guys. A judge told them to stop. We won!

Where is local PD for this shit? Defend your citizens from this criminal bullshit

Great. another ruling to be completely ignored.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

This is nonsense. What's the point? No one is enforcing laws against these people. Texas took TWO years after the Civil War to free their slaves, and it took occupation of that State to get that done. https://media2.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExdGp6ZjBxbWJlazhmd2J6ZThxMW1jOGxkamE2dGpkbjFwa3ZqbHA0cyZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/VR1HckYpsinlDQ1SfO/giphy.gif

Not sure if that's centrist. To me it's coping by total detachment from reality or just fascist propaganda.

Whether a liberal, a centrist, or a trotskyist, it just doesn't matter when their brains broke and perceive a hopeful fiction where the solution is simple and easy.

And it could be said fascist propaganda because this solution demands the opposition to sit and do nothing. How convenient.

Nice. Multiple civil suits on the way! Yeeehaaaa. Take their bank accounts, cars, and houses. You guys can do your part by recording. If you're nervous about stingrays, turn data off while you're using your phone camera.

7 months ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 5

poopy diaper dictator has already told his SS goon squads that they have absolute immunity, so I agree. this is going to change nothing.
the only thing that will actually change anything is if democrats get every single seat in the midterms. but that won't happen. drumpf is going to cancel the midterms because of the violence he created in MPLS.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was been saying it out loud since the last election that he doesnt want any more elections. "BuT hE CaNt dO ThAT" No one is stopping him so it sure looks like he can. And yet again everyone is *Surprised Pikachu Face* he took another step out of the fascist handbook.

The nazis don’t obey the law. Nice try, though. Nazis require harder push- back.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They're attacking peaceful protestors, not retaliating. Retaliating implies that the peaceful protesters are attacking first, which we all know isn't true.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That won't stop them. They're the Gestapo. They'll do it anyway, but at least having this on record showed that every peaceful process-

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

was attempted, so that when it does inevitably turn violent, history will know that the violence was from the Nazis first, not from us.

Thank you! I know at this point it's all just to out on record everything and every time they violate a law...but so many people still think that just telling them "no. You don't have my consent" or "hey....that's illegal! You can't do that" is going to stop them....it hasn't stopped any of them since the beginning of it all

7 months ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 6

Courts HAVE stopped ICE from doing stuff. They're slow, and not the only solution, and SCOTUS can fuck them, but they did actually get the national guard out of LA for example.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why are people downvoting your chicken wings posts? Wtf.

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

Anyone who honestly thinks this will stop them is so utterly divorced from reality that they are a danger to themselves and everyone around them. Trump's gestapo is literally executing innocent people in the streets in front of tons of witnesses filming it all. They don't give a single shit what any judge says they can and can't do, because Trump has promised them all immunity and they are part of a LITERAL Nazi death cult. They will not stop until everyone is dead or they are forcibly stopped.

7 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 7

This is all about getting it all on record... every single transgression... in the hopes that maybe someday when the tides have turned, there will be accountability.

7 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It is bad that this is the plan. Trump, and my guess is Miller, are waiting for forceful protest to invoke the insurrection act

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Trump already threatened it and then backed down, I'm guessing because of reactions from his own party

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

In every other city they've been forced out of, this was the first step in them losing their foothold there. I get that the media is suppressing everything that could give you hope, but please, at least stop carrying water for the fascists.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

None of those rulings stopped them from executing innocent people elsewhere. It hasn't stopped them from shipping people off to concentration camps. Nor did it stop them from making the people they were ordered to remove from some of those camps flat out disappear (most likely killed).

Until they are stopped EVERYWHERE, completely, then these rulings don't mean squat. They will eventually return to areas that thought they kicked ICE out once they've built up more momentum. 1/3

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been dealing with toxic/abusive jackasses like those who joined ICE for nearly 40 years. So much so that it resulted in me suffering catastrophic bodily harm over the years. I can tell you from experience that thinking these sorts of people have been "stopped" by a judge or other authority figure making them leave an area is beyond foolish. They are the sorts of people who WILL be back once they feel more emboldened and just ignore the court orders. 2/3

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Telling the victims who have seen firsthand how these sorts of people operate for decades that they're "supporting" the bad guys by pointing out the failings of ineffectual actions taken against them makes you little better than the fascists. You are sitting there trying to shame victims for the sake of defending strategies that are little more than a circlejerk to stroke your ego. 3/3

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So fucking sit on your thumbs and do nothing then. Your dooming is a fucking disease, you miserable little shit.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its a nice gesture, but the american gestapo doesnt follow law already

7 months ago | Likes 618 Dislikes 10

This will end and they will be prosecuted.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't have a revolution if nobody's standing up and validating them. Uprisings need a critical mass. Nothing happens if everyone feels alone, that's why the media isolation we're experiencing is so oppressive.

7 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

And why this is so important. We have to remember that most mass media is owned by a handful of companies, so what were fed on Facebook, Twitter, and the news is filtered to keep us ignorant and complacent

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But now it's a state crime that can't be given immunity, or a pardon.

7 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The gesture is crucially important for building and maintaining public support for the rebellion. People need to stop forgetting this.

7 months ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 2

Plus it also establishes clearly that ICE are in the wrong, and that they now should know they are in the wrong, which might be important in future lawsuits and prosecutions (whenever that comes).

7 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

yep. having judges reaffirm "yeah the population kinda is right" helps people maintain moral. KNOWING you're doing the right thing legally and that they are NOT is really big for shooing away those pesky "oh god could i get in big trouble for this later?" feelings. i mean, assuming we dont fall fully into fascism. but at that point we're all probably going to the camps anyway no matter what.

7 months ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

(i am aware that this is the beginning of that last part. but we're still in the critical phase where they don't think they'd win the militaries support to just fire on people. otherwise they'd be doing that already. they're using ice because they HAVE to use ice. thats the only group that is willing and we outnumber them)

7 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

And some people need to stop forgetting that actions are required too, while Good's shooter is still at large, they aren't doing shit to protect you.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just because actions aren’t happening in front of your eyes doesn’t mean they aren’t happening. A lot ld people are doing the best they can every day, as I’m sure you are.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, and the best the cops can do is put that murderer in jail, not one of them have done that.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is really no point in arresting him until Minnesota prosecutors overcome some legal hurdle with the feds. We have a shot at some of those, but it’s gonna take months to work out. It makes me grind my teeth to the gums, but it is what it is.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It still isn't stopping ICE though. Thats the point here. They don't care.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

It took a long time to get here, and it’s gonna take a long time to make it go away…but we can’t give up

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You’re not gonna stop ICE. You gotta go after the administration, and for that you need poll numbers that make congress start pissing themselves.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

And every single democrat who is saying anything other than ICE needs to be defunded.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Look, democrats are bought and paid for, most of them. Republicans def are. Voting is going to prolong the inevitable, as soon as people realize this, we can actually do something. Its not a both sides thing, its just that democrats are right wing in America too.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that's just called the 4th Ammendment. Now, issue arrest warrants for those breaking that law.

7 months ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 2

FTCA claims are the way.

7 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Isn't the 4th Amendment illegal search and seizure?

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, the seizure piece is what I am referring to. Retaliating against the 1st ammendment with an arrest is an illegal seizure under the 4th.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pam Bondi of the DOJ needs an arrest warrant. And so does DHS Kristi Noem.

7 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I need an American to explain this. Why, if what they are doing is illegal, do the local police not arrest these masked, unidentified Gestapo thugs?

7 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 6

The actual reason is because it would kick off the 2nd American civil war..all the other answers here are wrong.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

Everyone else has pretty much explained this but yeah: police are complicit. And cowards - ICE seems to usually be more heavily armed and armored them so they're not gonna risk themselves.

7 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Because the police are in on it, in spirit if not physically also.

7 months ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

1000%

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because the police are commanded by the local chiefs... who've been contacted by federal "law enforcement" and told to comply with allowing ICE agents to "do their jobs." There's an imagined "emergency" declaration made by Trump, where no such emergency exists.

People are conflicted... so they just default. That's the problem. The rule of law has been hijacked. America is wounded. And foreigners got the message. Tourism is down dramatically.

7 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

ACAB.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

One reason: Police work at the behest of Capital (money/power) and the people targeted aren't that. Another reason: Local police would need to arrest themselves, their family members, or their friends. Rage Against The Machine wasn't kidding with Killing in the Name's lyrics: "Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses".

7 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

American police can only arrest if 1) they have a judge’s warrant or 2) they suspect a crime has occurred.

The hard part with #2 is that ICE has blanket authority from POTUS, so there is some power behind the claim that anything they do is not a crime. This injunction is a court saying “no, this stuff is still illegal”, and that court order overrides Trump’s power.

Imgurians talk about ICE ignoring laws without getting caught… but this is the first step in getting caught.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doing so will end up in a lawsuit about federal supremacy and jurisdiction. Best case scenario, that case gets drawn out for years, if its even taken up. Meanwhile, the Gestapo terrorize those trying to hold them to account. There is also the issue of a great many local cops being sympathetic to ICE or the Admin's aims. Apparently quite a few cops in MN are/were calling in sick so that they won't be asked to protect the people. The US is experiencing many layers of intertwined issues.

7 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

No one is directing them to do so yet. I.e., mayor. Governor. Etc.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

The law instructs it. The calls coming in to emergency services about assaults, home and business invasions invasion/trespassing, abductions, shooting etc instructs it.. instead the are telling people to comply, not showing up, or if they do show up they help ice 99% of the time. Why hasn't Renee Goods shooter been arrested and charged? We know who he is. Why hasn't the agency been charged with obstruction for hiding identity of civil rights violations?

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

truth. questions to ask waltz, your Congressional reps &your AG. I would like to see an investigative piece on your claim that people are calling 911 &being told to comply. also ask your local police chief. When speaking with police officials, stress the fact that ice is ruining all the progress police have made since Floyd protests, &leaving a huge mess for them to clean up. Because of them, people will associate police&ice as the same,& officers will be at increased risk in every interaction

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

by mess, I mean that local police are now the bad guys again and they will have to deal with all that means, overs YEARS to come. particularly, ice is now half wearing camo and half wearing black uniforms that make it look like they are local cops.
