I thought she was talking to Alexa/Echo, the voice sounded like one of those Male Voice 1 on Waze or Whatever

Doesn't this lady do a bunch of this stupid fake content stuff?

Ya. And this is another stupid fake content stuff that everyone esle is doing, too, because tiktoc is such a hub for creativity.

My aunt and uncle were pulled over by state troopers in Nevada sometime in the early 70’s
“Are ya’ll missing something?”
Left one of their kids at the gas station 30 miles back.
I can tell you that my three other cousins knew that he was left behind and were giggling in the back of that station wagon the whole time but they wouldn’t ever admit it. They were just mean kids 😹

That's fucked up. I had some serious hate for my siblings at times, but never at the level of "I'm not going to say something as we drive away for over 30 minutes".

Clearly staged. Not well acted. Still laughed.

My mom forgot me at a Toys r Us once. She went home and asked my sibling where I was. This was before cell phones and even pagers, so all I could really do was sit out front and wait.

seen this before with a different couple. Looks like it's the next tiktok skit trend. ugh.

Is it normal to film yourself driving or is it a Tesla thing?

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some dashcams do both driver and windshield. I assume this is more common and desired for black drivers in the US.

She filmed it to be able to post it online.

I did this with our Yorkie when I was like 14, took him along on a trip to the newsagents, and tied him up outside. Got most of the way home before the "OH SHIT!" moment hit me, and I went running back for him.

Almost 40 years ago, and it still comes to mind occasionally 😆

RIP Ted.

My dad offered to help me get a bundle of rebar with his trailer about 7 years ago. I told him to wait on the side of the building so he doesn't get trapped in their small parking lot until I pay and they tell me which warehouse in their compound we need to go to for pickup. I come out and he is just gone. I call him 3 times before he finally answered and he was almost home (25miles away). That was the day I realized he may have memory problems which turned out to be the onset of dementia.

I hope you got a laugh out of it. You gotta laugh where you can. I had a similar story with my dad. We sent him to pick up pizzas we ordered for dinner. He called us shortly after saying, "they don't have the pizzas... I'm in the drive thru and they don't have them."

Drive thru? He had gone to Taco Bell.

That was the signal we needed. We had to take his car away not too long after. Thankfully his dementia progressed slowly and he never completely forgot me or my sisters.

I think my dad was on that path longer than we originally thought. Older stories about him ordering a whopper at a Wendy's and things like were later recalled. There was no laughing that particular day he left me behind though. He was already getting more violent and screaming at everyone. He yelled at the guy loading the rebar who said F it and left us hanging badly loaded. We fishtailed all the way back home and nearly wrecked several times. He kept forgetting there was a trailer attached too.

I'm sorry that both of you had to go through this. My grandfather died from consequences of Alzheimer's, and I was there with him for the last year of his life, witnessing his decline, and being unable to do a thing. When it finally happened, it started as a toothache, which spiraled into headaches, him not being able to open his eyes because the light bothered him, and then finally losing his lucidity entirely. It lasted for a month or so. He died in the hospital without knowing me ->

-> My mother and my aunt were with him for the most of that time. Last time I saw him, my mother asked him if he knew who I was, and he asked if I were Ned (there are no Neds in the family). So here's hoping something good comes along to fix the dementia issues, because it hurts not being able to do a damned thing. And you lose patience every now and then, raise your voice, or shout outright, and you can't take it back. I guess it would help with that, too.

My father had a fall that gave him symptoms indistinguishable from early dementia and a few years later my mother was diagnosed with it. By the time both were at that bad stage I was so unfathomably worn down I'd just agree with whatever they said and I'm glad I did. Going along with whatever was passing through their minds kept them calm if not cheerful and resulted in some of the happier/less unhappy (take your pick) times.

My dad isn't my dad anymore. He's a husk. Personality is gone and he has about a 10 second working memory if that most days. He can occasssionally recall older memories correctly but his sense of time, direction and ability to read or carry on a coversation are all gone. He's just in a permanent state of confusion and anger about everything. We cannot locate his hearing aids either so that doesnt help. Hearing loss seems to have a strong correlation with quicker dementia onset.

I've heard hearing and dementia affect the same part of the brain. As hearing diminishes, that part of the brain is not being stimulated, so it atrophies, which brings on dementia in some people

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

get him new hearing aides, that sounds like hell

He's lost 4 pair that were $5k a set before we really knew he had dementia. We've been buying much cheaper pairs every few months now. Last time he lost them for a few weeks he just found them again after my mom, my wife and i searched everywhere. Another time he rolled down the window and tossed them out on the freeway because he felt "something" in his ears. I found his wallet tucked inside a pair of old shoes at the bottom of a trash can once. He had removed my tile tracker from the wallet.

Like why do people do that? Just take the latest thing and make their copy of it and post it for other people to see. What is the point? What do they get out of it? I truly do not understand the mindset.

Influencers and online personalities chasing trends hoping to go viral with their particular take on something currently popular, securing a larger fanbase for future content, which gets them more likely to go viral again, bigger fanbase, etc.

The algorithms used by things like TikTok or YouTube basically force people who want to do it as a job into this kind of content mill, with everyone churning out their own spins on a current fad before switching to a new one.
