Confession- I know very little about doing laundry in a great way. Or targeting stains. I’m terrible at that too.

#6 Look. Calorie apps are a fucking calculator. It's there to help you keep track of what you're eating so you can consciously make better choices about your diet. They're not there to judge you. At worst, it'll tell you "Ey boss, 25,000 calories in a day is kind of a lot". The only person you're cheating by not entering something you ate is yourself.

#15 Don't wash aggressively, don't wash too often, don't use too much soap, buy good quality clothes. I've been wearing the same pair of pants for.. well I'm not gonna do the math but whatever's between 18ish and 30+ and just recently I got my first tiny little hole. (I did have to replace the button once, and one of the hems is a teeny bit frayed)

#14 I used to joke with a coworker that I didn’t need caffeine, I needed coke (which I’ve not actually ever done). Anywho, now I know the difference between “tired” and “fatigue.”

#1 Never mind how. The fact that it happens at all is boggling enough.

#2 Imagine ridiculing Jack for these pictures. This looks like a great fucking vacation. Man is old and fat and rich, and deserves a nice fucking boat trip in fucking peace.

Dyes don't bleed as much as they used to. If you're worried about it, wash your whites separately. Clothes can be done on cold all the time these days. Towels and sheets should always be hot. If you're unsure, read the tag. If you're still unsure, cold is safest for all fabrics that can go into a washing machine.

I think I like it in this thread. Beautiful.

#1 I can't believe in this country when no one can afford an MRI. They're a MRIing freaking hamsters
bloodbloodbloodblood
Targeting stains is tough. What I do is use a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long life. Skills that make me a nightmare for laundry. If the stains let my clothes go, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and I will clean them.
JHord1985
We live in a time of specific detergents that preclude the need to split up laundry most of the time. I've never done so, and never will. Clothes are like cars; they exist to serve a function. I'd rather not have to deal with them, and I'm putting in the bare minimum effort.

#15 As a child I had to buy this book for school. It's basically a collection of all basic scientific standards. Units, constants, equations, you name it. It even has a page for what the washing instructions on labels mean. I still sometimes use it to look those up to do the laundry. You don't need to know things. You only need to know where those things are written down.

whosbestmom
Not available in US--it's been banned . . . 'cause if you had instructions on how to do stuff you wouldn't need moms . . .

We - NL - have it too, it’s called Binas. From Biologie, Natuurkunde en Scheikunde. bi na s
mycatpoopedinmyshoe
This is exactly what it’s like to get an engineering degree. Not so much about what you know…except where to find it.
LuIu
I'm the maniac that memorized all of them.
I mean, I still ignore it, but I know what I'm ignoring!
TinyLiehon
I just play the "Keep talking & nobody explodes"-level where the bomb is made out if wash machine components.
Foxsayy
I didn't have that book and I don't separate my whites and colors and honestly it's been working out.
TheRicM
I bought a rugby shirt and the white stripe on it got dyed blue from the rest of the shirt. What should have been the procedure there? I washed it in cold water
AcaelusThorne
Hot water?
andaraven
If the shirt was some expensive “official merch” from a team, you need to write a strongly worded email informing them cuz that is some bullshit. If it was just a cheap rugby style shirt, you could try soaking it in vinegar and ice water to help set the dyes before washing.
TheRicM
Not official merch. Thanks for the tip!

@op if it makes you feel better when I became an adult I did a bunch of experimenting and found out that unless you have really delicate designer clothes sorting and softner with modern washing machines and soap makes almost no difference. I still seperate whites cause it was too deeply ingrained as a kid and not whites and whites together makes me physically uncomfortable but it's not really necessary unless there's a new never before washed deep color in the load.
tgeliot
Things like blue garage towels will run like crazy and stain everything else.
MimaMaxima
I just use a color catcher tissue if there is anything sensitive and wish them luck. If they make it, they make it.
sometimesarobot
Whites matter if you use bleach.

I wonder how many hamsters you could buy for the cost of a single hamster MRI
battleofhastings1066
Billions.
illmeetyouin2129
Thought this was interesting so I did some Googling. The cost of an MRI session varies pretty widely, but one site said the average cost was $1325. Petsmart is selling hamsters (both long and short-haired) for $20. So, like 66 hamsters?
Californiajackson
But this one is glad you chose the MRI (I presume).
Isorikk
I realize it's probably harder to build a bond with a hamster but I would give everything I own to give my dogs the treatment they might need but I definitely wouldn't offer as much to help someone else's dog and definitely would never want to replace mine on a whim. I think often times, even if they're objectively insignificant, we come to depend on the little things (even if they're a little hamster).
spartanliam115
#1 is a CT scanner not an MRI
trythebleucheese
I noticed, too, but it's still adorable
Californiajackson
They didn't want to frighten the hamster by telling him he was getting a cat scan.
tepidreindeer
Oh this is a good joke. Nice work.
xtav
I think it's a pet scanner
HarryBlackstoneCopperfieldDresden
Why would anyone use either on a hamster...?

you would be shocked at what vets scan wana know how they do MRI scans on snakes they sedate them and tape them to a plastic ruler
