Climate change

Jan 11, 2025 11:05 PM

If you're concerned about climate change, and you're not a vegan, know that you are directly contributing to the problem. Something that everyone here keeps forgetting when they're talking about these animal born viruses and climate change.

I'm really enjoying watching the negative comments from carnists. You guys are literally proving my point.

It's almost like talking about dangers of smoking back in the day and smokers getting pissy about it. This is literally no different.

Yeah we all need a little more personal responsibility, but this isn't helping. It needs to be government policy changes coordinated with every other government to reign in businesses and capitalism.... We're screwed. I'll still try my best though.

The people on this website are ignorant at best. Like all meat eaters. Every time I post a collection of 800+ studies proving red meat to cause cancer they still argue against it. They think animal cruelty isn't a problem because they want to stay ignorant. They think mass meat production isn't a problem and the only reason for it is lack of knowledge. It's sad to watch.

Yeah, it's extremely frustrating when people ignore scientific evidence and choose to stay in the dark about important issues like this. It's tough to see that kind of denial, especially when it comes to something as serious as the impact of meat consumption on health and the environment.

What's paying someone to torture pigs and shove them into gas chambers like? Does it make you feel like a real apex predator to be as far removed from the suffering just so that you can be in your little comfort zone?

Sorry all, that was my bad. Had some chicken nuggets today. This one's on me.

Yes it's exactly this attitude. Thank you for proving that beautifully for me

okay, but... have you eaten chicken nuggets? They're pretty good. I think McDonalds should offer turkey nuggets around Thanksgiving... could be a big hit.

Oh yeah mechanically separated meat from an animal sounds soooo delicious 🤮

plus breading!

Oh go jump in a hole

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

Yep! It's exactly this attitude that's causing this. Thank you for illustrating my point

I ammend my statement: Your position should jump into a hole. You should not jump into a hole. My apologies for saying that.

I appreciate you taking back the personal attack. I really do :-) and we really need to look at animal agriculture as a main cause of climate change.

Said the person who pays people to torture and put pigs into gas chambers. Ignorance is bliss. Keep telling yourself that. https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/cancer-carcinogenicity-of-the-consumption-of-red-meat-and-processed-meat

You're posting this using a device using rare earth metals, using power probably generated using a dirty source, likely in a building that has concrete foundations. Everyone's contributing. Get off your fucking high horse.

That fallacy is called "tu quoque," which is Latin for "you too." It's a type of ad hominem fallacy where someone tries to discredit your argument by accusing you of hypocrisy, rather than addressing the actual issue at hand. So thank you for that :-)

That's not how the fallacy is used-- or it is, if you completely missed the point. Are you going to delete this answer like the last one when you come up with a more "clever" retort?

So we're not omnivores? Explain yourself.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Doesn't matter if we are or not. If you can easily be vegan without a problem but you still choose to contribute to animal suffering, then you're just an ignorant fuck. Aside from the effects on climate, the effects on your health and the FUCKING ANIMAL CRUELTY HAPPENING TO BILLIONS OF ANIMALS

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Well you can't.
YES cruelty to animals is bad, is wrong. Not a single person is saying that it is ok.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The only thing you're doing is looking for excuses/grasping at straws to stay in your shitty comfort zone because you don't want to change and you're making shit up to not feel bad about what you're contributing to. Literally nothing else. Grow up. The meat is messing with your cognitive functions.

oh my god, YES YOU FUCKING CAN. I've been vegan for 10 years, my brother has been vegan for 15. Millions of vegans have been doing it for decades. Stop being an ignorant fuck.

My meat Comes from Norway, not factory farmed. there are 2774 trees per person, more than 3 times that of the US, almost twice the amount of of Brazil.

If I had a dollar everytime I heard this. I'd be fucking rich now.

That fallacy is known as "red herring." It's when someone introduces irrelevant information or facts to divert attention away from the original issue. In this case, you are deflecting the discussion from the broader impact of animal agriculture on global warming to specific details about your meat source and tree statistics.

My point is rain forrest isnt getting cut down to feed me. plus we eat like half the meat americans do.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

That's still kind of a red herring. You're shifting the focus from the overall issue of animal agriculture's impact on climate change to specifics about your personal meat consumption and deforestation. It doesn't really address the main point that I made.

Animal husbandry can be done sustainably.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not to the scale that it would take to appease every human being on this planet. It's very not sustainable.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Cattle wise that is incorrect. Pigs is debatable. Chicken maybe but I ly if they suffer grwatly. Fish? Fish farming currently is horribly bad but has some potential. The best solution and the most carbon benefits comes from full vegan or very heavy vegetarian diets.
