9. Akagi

This list is less about my 9 favorite anime, and more about my 10 favorite anime that I rarely see mentioned on Imgur in no particular order, and Akagi, ohh boy is Akagi one the best anime I've seen. Akagi is about balls to the walls risk it all gambling on Mahjong matches, with a main character whose balls are bigger than elephant, and will do whatever it takes to win and screw his opponent over.

8. Yuuki Yuuna Is a Hero

While many of you anime fans have heard of or seen Madoka Magica, this gem of a show slipped by unnoticed because of how clearly it was inspired by Madoka. But while Madoka is bleak and the situation escalates from bad to worse as quickly as it can, Yuuki Yuuna tries to keep an upbeat atmosphere, despite the story doing its best to beat the characters down. I will be honest and say that Yuuki Yuuna Is a Hero is my favorite magical girl anime, although its only competition is Madoka and Nanoha, Strike Witches if you count that.

7. Log Horizon

One of the more mainstream on here, the characters are people trapped in an MMORPG, but unlike other shows with that set up, this one focuses more on how the world works and on the political movings involved. All the game's mechanics are in place like normal, so they respawn if killed, and their biggest concern is just finding a way to enjoy life in the new world.

6. Toradora

Toradora is in my opinion, the best romance anime. It's about Ryuuji and Taiga, Ryuuji looks like a thug but is a really nice guy, and Taiga looks like a little softie, but would knock your lights out for bumping into her. Things happen and they end up trying to help each other get a date with the other's best friends.

5. Bokurano

I would call this, Evangelion, and Gurren Lagann together the Mecca of Mecha anime. If you don't like one, you would probably love the other two. Bokurano is about a group of kids who get tricked into piloting a giant robot and fighting other giant robots. That doesn't sound too bad does it? Well after each fight the pilot dies, and if they don't fight, or if they lose, their entire universe is erased, as if it never existed. Naturally most of the characters are short lived, and you won't remember their names, but you will never forget their stories.

4. Sora no Woto

Sora no Woto follows the daily lives of a 5 girl tank crew, set in a far distant future where most technology was lost in past wars, and only a small amount of land is still habitable. Nevertheless, this remains upbeat, until their pasts catch up with them.

3. Ookami-san and Her Seven Companions

How to describe this one? Well in a world where everyone is a reference to a classic fairytale character, Ryoko Ookami works as muscle for the Otogi Bank, a group at the Otogi Academy that grants the wishes of people who come to them. The show is a comedy about her relationship with Ryoushi Morino, a guy terrified of being looked at, but who wants to help and protect Ryoko more than anything.

2. Tantei Opera Milky Holmes

This is not for everyone. It's not for most people. However, if you can get past the sheer stupidity of the cast, it is absolutely hilarious. The show is about four "ace detectives" who are well, as others in the show puts it "The most retarded retards to ever retard on the face of the planet." and it follows the antics they get into while trying to stop the phantom thief Arsene from stealing any more things and get their powers back, which they get back and lose about every 3 episodes.

1. Love Live School Idol Project

Love Live is about a group of girls who decide to become idols to increase their school's popularity and get girls interested in going there again, or else it will shut down. This is one of my favorite anime, because well, It just made me happy. The music, while not for everyone, is very good, and the characters are in general likeable.

As an end note, you may ask "Why is this a top 9 list and not a top 10?" Well you see, I thought I included 10, but I miscounted and I had already typed up 7 descriptions.

Honourable mentions: Non Non Biyori (Would have been the 10th), Ping Pong the Animation (Don't let the art style turn you off it is amazing), K (But only the first season), Konosuba (I feel it was too recent for this list), and Haruhi Suzumiya (I couldn't find an image or Gif to capture the essence of this well enough without it being from the Monogatari series).

Without reading the title, I, for a second, thought the first image was a different version of Sexualobster.

That was going to be the 10th one!, I'm so annoyed I mis-counted.

I'd call Ookami-san and Her Seven Companions more "high school mafia" than what you said.

Yeah that is a better fit now that I think about it.

Is that tank anime a fraction of what fury(Brad Pitt film) was? Because that would be awesome

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Girls Und Panzer was a fun watch, but it wasn't one of my favorites. I unfortunately haven't seen Fury yet, but I need to.

I'm just going to say there's a scene near the end that was one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking things I've ever seen.

You mean like the end of K?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

K's ending, assuming you mean season 1, had nothing on this scene. If you mean season 2, I question how you found anything in that good.

I spent literally a week agonizing over whether I liked Maki or Nico more. I decided to call it even, and both are best girl.

Have you seen FLCL?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have indeed. I didn't like it much when I watched it, I didn't understand it. I need to rewatch it, now that I'm not a dumb 15 year old.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You still won't understand it, but it is quite entertaining nonetheless!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know man, I've managed to get through all of the Monogatari series in one go without getting lost now.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Make sure to get through neon genesis evangelion first, a lot of the parody in FLCL will make a lot more sense.
