Hi, all. If you’ve seen any of my posts lately, you’ll know I’m in a pretty desperate situation. I’ll share my GoFundMe at the end. It has a lot more details about my situation, but basically, I’m facing eviction any day now unless I can come up with about $3,500 pretty much immediately. I’m on several lists with nonprofits, but so far, none have been able to help. The only financial assistance I’ve received is from private donors to my GoFundMe. So, even if you can’t donate, please feel free to share it far and wide. Thank you all!
Here’s the link to my GoFundMe for those of you who are interested: https://gofund.me/53ef99ef5 Thank you for reading!

#22 I mean... IIRC, historically burning was for heretics, and witches were mostly hanged.

English witches were generally hanged, continental witches were generally burned.
Regardless, thousands of people are *still* being killed for being 'witches'.
AS per the UN:

#6 i would actually like this idea in general, if I did not fear it would end up in some eugenics based dystopia 😞

I hear that.

Hey I'm so sorry to hear all this i can I ask, if you get the money what will happen next month? Won't you be in the same position because of having to pay rent?
I am so so sorry and angry you are going through this

Thank you so much for your kind words. I’ve actually got several irons in the fire, including interviews for a few positions that are “several steps back,” career-wise, but which will allow me the time I need to continue my medical treatments. The reason this has gotten so dire is that I only recently learned that one of my healthcare providers has actively been sabotaging my progress for a long while. I’m sorry I have to speak in such general terms, but they committed such egregious ethical 1/

violations against not only me, but at least four other patients. This person’s actions were so far from okay that I actually haven’t been able to discuss them with my therapist or psychiatrist because they would 100% have to report everything. Once it gets reported, this person will instantly know the information came from me & with everything I’m going through, I am not ready to fight that battle yet. Within the next few weeks, I will be consulting with an attorney on how to move forward.

But suffice it to say I’ll be surprised if this person will be able to keep their license. They may even face criminal charges. Basically, they waited until I was at my most vulnerable & betrayed me in a way that made this whole situation so much worse than it had to be. So in answer to your question, before I got derailed, I was working on a plan to get through the next six months or so. This money will give me the extra few weeks I need to put those plans back into action. 3/3

That sounds unimaginably upsetting. And the trust broken and trauma caused. Thank you for looking after yourself and doing what you need to do to do that. I really hope it works out and wish you well

Trauma such as this position by a trusted medical professional, changes how our brain works. In the future you may find yourself far less trusting of authority figures, with a shorter fuse for stress before freezing or fighting/fleeing (called window of tolerance) and may need more predictability. Be extra kind to yourself. My mum has long COVID and cannot do a block of walking anymore. It can be hard when there's no physical test they can do. I'm in awe of your resilience and strength Op

Also yes, Long COVID sucks. For the two years prior to when I got sick, I was in the best shape of my life. I walked/hiked 4-5 miles a day. And I had just started taking swimming lessons twice a week and practicing on my own another 2-3 days a week. Now it’s a struggle just to walk up and down a flight of stairs. Especially since I have POTS now (a common diagnosis for people with Long COVID), so it’s a fight to stay hydrated and I pass out randomly when my blood pressure tanks.

Thank you again for your kind words. Yes to everything you said about the abuse of power by someone in authority. Thankfully, I already had a good mental health team in place before this happened, so they’ve been great at supporting me through it, even with the minimal information I’m able to give them.

Yes it sounds like you have done great protective factors in place :) is he interested to know what the meds are and if they are helping? I have another friend aged 32 with long COVID and he was super active and now can't work etc.
