I don't think you're supposed to smack your head on the ramp. The board grab was the trick, but he messed up the backflip at the beginning.
You’re right, he does kinda grab at the back of his helmet after he lands.
I just like that people do this event with backpacks on.
I believe it was, from what I heard this competition is specifically for tricks doing stuff like that
