My Father’s sealed Vinyl of our Thanksgiving tradition. My father worked a lot. Once I started school as a child I’d see very little of him that wasn’t him working on the house or asleep, however.. Every Thanksgiving morning dad will be home, we’ll wake up nice and early and start blasting Alice’s Restaurant Massacre, a song by Arlo Guthrie, son to Woody Guthrie who was the author of This Land is your Land. The song is 18 minutes long and it’s about the time he got arrested for dumping garbage off a cliff on Thanksgiving.
And no matter where we are, my dad and I will both listen to this entire stupid song, multiple times. It used to be to annoy the hell out of my mother, but now it’s just the tradition. Too bad I’m not home, but like many others during the holidays there’s the little things that bring it all together. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

It’s not stupid. It’s brilliant. And furthermore the restaurant is a real place. There is also a movie too, that’s kinda stupid 1/2
TonyStankIsAlright
The restaurant is now a different restaurant. And the town is full of rich, second home owners.
rockhydra
The movie also has the motorcycle song in it. Arlo is a GD national treasure, and a really nice guy.

My parents played this song every year while we drove up to my aunt and uncle's house for Thanksgiving. Arlo is a tradition for my family.
