the people voting on it set the income thresholds...if that was the only reason, they'd just raise the qualifier limits

No. It's an issue because the minority party that recently lost doesn't want the incoming party to succeed so they can gain power again.

* "is less than they spend on lunches in a month".

The more important reason is that the economy doesn’t need stimulus — it needs disaster relief.

If you're in a position that you don't need the check, go spend it on something; which is sorta the point in calling it stimulus 1/2

True. But if we're not getting what we need I'll take what we can get.

2/2 But I agree, "stimulus" bills don't far enough & I think that's partly bc "stimulus" and "disaster relief" set different expectations.

most? which Congressman is not pulling in their full congressional salary?

I wasn't sure if any would qualify for even reduced amounts and so phrased it that way to be fair.

The stimulus check should have benefited most Congressfolk if that were their sole income and they were married

It could also be that printing money will destabilize the currency and cause more problems then it solves. But hey, money printer go brrrt.

I mean, we could've used money from other stuff like "space force" and didn't so it's better than not doing anything to help people.

Ya, no. Not printing money is the best thing the federal government can do. Would rather not become the next Venezuela.

Tell that to the GOP who refuse to take money away from our obscenely bloated military while giving out billions in tax cuts to rich ppl.

Happily, you have there phone number? Get the DNC on the line also for blocking any attempt to pull our troops out of the middle east.

Nice whataboutism, and need I remind you Obama's (Dem) pulling troops out o Iraq is precisely what gave room for ISIS to form & take over?

The money printer's been going brrrrt on overtime, we might as well get a fucking measly stimulus check out of it.

Or we can just turn it off and not become the next Venezuela. How about we start demanding something reasonable like less military spending

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Venezuela's problems are multi-faceted and chalking them up to a single issue is mistaken, at best.

And move that money over to practical things like our infrastructure to create jobs that actually help people.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I'm certainly down for that. But we won't. We'll keep brrrrrting for banks and foreign powers.
